I am in need of a little help if anyone has a in depth knowledge of Airdog pumps. I have a older Airdog 150. I got it used in 2009. recently the pump shaft seal started leaking and filling the motor with diesel and popping fuses. Called Airdog to get a replacement motor and seal and the wanted the serial number off the housing but my data tag is goone so they wont sell me one. I am not happy with the customer service I am recieving. All I need is a 99 cent seal but they tell me I have to buy the entire motor assembly. My motor is in great shape. rotor, housing , bearings, shaft all in great shape. Any advise will be appreciated.

I have had an air dog and really didnt like it I went with a FASS this time and love it! easy install and havent had any problems... If you just need a oring just go to the parts store and pick one up they are super easy to find...

sorry for the troubles, will the motor still if you clean it out? If so just get the replacment seal. I didnt trust that tag to stay on so i wrote down the number and strached them into the side of the filter base. I have had my motor replaced with the serial number no problem.

Its not just a average o ring seal. Its a Viton shaft seal. After the customer service I have been getting if I cant get it resolved I will be going to a FASS. This is the second time they have been difficult to work with.

Mine is leaking from between the motor and base, I am still unsure if its the seals in between or the weep hole? You guys ever had that problem?

All that o ring does is seal dirt and dust out of the motor. There is a citron seal that keeps fuel from leaking in around the motor shaft from the gerotor pump side of the filter body. There is no o ring seal.

So what would you say the cause of my leak is? I took the motor off the base last week and the seals looked fine and were still sticking up a descent amount and I flipped them while I had it apart, I think it's from the weep hole but what causes it to leak from there?

If fuel is getting into the motor housing then you have the same problem I have. It is a known problem, I am just pissed I have to spend $220 to replace a everything when all I need is a cheap seal. There is a seal in the housing where the motor shaft goes through and the pump gears slid on. the seal keeps fuel from leaking into the motor housing. Its a viton seal that looks like a tiny version of a crank seal in the timing cover of a small block motor. it is pressed into the housing. I have mine out right now trying to get a replacement. I have given up on Airdog and electric pumps in general. I replaced the factory pump twice then installed the Airdog and it has left me stranded twice in the last 3 yrs. I am going to a DTT Assassin pump. All mechanical.

I had the same problem. I discovered that my fuel lines were energized after adding in the splices to shorten the lines. After a little research that is what people were saying is that the pump was filling with fuel. Called Air Dog and 3 days later I was on the road FREE OF CHARGE and I still have the old pump to play with someday.

Heck yeah I will take one. Wife and I have been sharing my little Honda for the last 2 weeks and it's getting old. My motor shaft is in great shape just the seal is leaking. Let me know.

So do I need to take the silver cover off the pump motor and thats where this seal is bad? Because like I said I took the thing apart and all the selas were fine and were sitting up plenty high enough to seal everything off and I believe its coming from that damn weep hole

The seal is on the motor side. Look into the housing where the motor shaft goes through

It's not hard. Take the motor off, take the cover and gears off, look into the housing, there is a seal in there. May be covered in grease but it is there. Rubber seal with a inner spring. Very simple.

Mine wasn't torn. Just worn and leaking. Looked fine but leaked past the shaft and filled the motor body causing it to blow the fuse.

Luckily mine hasn't done that mine is just leaking fuel between the motor and filter base. Fuel pressure is still fine too. Just an annoying leak

I was happy with my pump till the bearings went out of the motor the first time. Wasn't covered then. Now this seal leaking which they won't sell you just the seal they want you to replace everything so $220 more. I have just had enough. The companies customer service and lack of backing their own product has sent me elsewhere. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day but after 4 calls and just getting the run around I will give my money to someone else.

Well it took some digging but I found the seal. Local bearing company matched the bearings and seal for me. So I went from $280 from Airdog to $18 and some change.

I don't agree with the decisions AirDog is making these days either. However to their defense, you mentioned that you purchased yours used and I'm not sure if that falls under their warranty or not. That being said, with the prices of airdogs being very similar to Fass, I am going to go with fass titanium 150 when I purchase my fuel supply system because of other discussions on this forum.

My guess is that AirDog might be looking at the dollar signs rather than customer satisfaction. It makes more economical sense to turn down warranty claims rather than take the economical risk to send parts out to a customer that doesn't have a serial number. If it were my company, I would have sent the seal out without question seeing as how it is a cheap part. But I would not go past that if the claim falls out of the warranty's policy.

Bearings for the motor are easy to get and any bearing company can get you those. I forgot to write those down but for the rotary seal in the housing that keeps fuel from getting into your motor, it is a SKF 3103. I shimmed the motor .050 so the seal was running in a different spot. No leaks, steady 18 psi. And it is so quiet I can't even here it run. BUT, I still ordered a DTT Assassin, I would have bought another Airdog but after the service and so called technical advice I received I would rather give my money to someone else. Oh, did you guys know that electric motor have sensitive electronics that are ruined when fuel contacts them? LMAO!
