Ive been getting the 1740 code ever since I got my truck . TCC or OD solinoid performance. Trans was a factory warrenty "overhaul" at 76000mi now has 110000mi so about 35,000 on trans. I installed a SMR shift kit.
Still get the code.

I pulled a 5th wheel trailer from so cal up 395 to oregon , back and forth over the willamatte mountains , then to Idaho and back down to so cal. Never got a check engine or code.
I only get the check engine and 1740 when I take a short trip to the store driveing 35 40 max. When I start the truck in the grocery store parking lot I get the check engine light, go to auto zone ,get scanner and erase the Dang code.

I have asked several trans guys about it and no cure has been found. There is aparently a delay between the signal and the idintified shift at low speed.

I checked all the grounds.

Anyone else cure the 1740 code?

I Talked To Trans Guys Here In The Shop And They Said Gov. Presure Soliniod And Presure Transducer On The Valvebody. The Part# 56041403aa And 4617210. They Cost About 100 Each And We See Alot Of These Go Bad

There is 2 solinoids on the valve body. They are a one piece unit as I remember.

Is that what your talking about???

I heard replace is about $200.

I could pull the pan and throw $200 at the thing . Or it would not cure it and waste my money.

Who is "we see alot of those go bad"? Do you work at a dealer or trans shop?

The p1740 has to deal with no lock-up or slip in the trans. You could have a bad t/c, input shaft, input shaft seals, pump or valve body t/c plate. They have a TSB It's 21-08-00

Protwinturbo, Ahhh..... a TSB 21-08-00. I found that and printed it out.

Damn , I wish I new of this when I pulled my VB 3 times I could have modified the Plate.

Im suprised SMR didnt tell me about this , I called him 3 times.

Ok I called Pat at SMR and The 21-08-00 is already fixed or upgraded with my shift kit.

Anyone have a link to pictures of the Gov pressure switch and pressure transducer, I remember the double solinoid for lockup and OD , but dont have a picture of the Gov pressure switch. I need to see if I have to pull the VB or is I can fix it by just pulling the pan. Plus I would like a picture so I know what im looking for. I dont have a service manual

You guys that replaced these, were you getting a 1740 code?

JDakin... Thanks , I was just at my buddys trans shop and he showed me those 2 parts he had laying around. He said they are right below where the accumilator goes up in the trans case, Take out about 4 bolts and the black colored switch might be a pain to unhook.

Were you getting the 1740 code? Is that why you replaced those 2 parts? Tell me Whats up with your trans...

no codes, it was shifting first to second back to first back to second at 10mph and also it would sometimes start in second or third gear, put these in and it shifts great now, and i'm no expert by any means

I've had similar problems with my '01 CTD. I've replaced the solenoids, and pressure gov., and also installed a transgo kit, which helped the most. I've never gotten any codes, but I'm also having the problem of shifting between 1st and 2nd around 10 mph. The gov. press transducer is next. Ive been ordering all of my trans parts through this website. Maybe it will help.
