It just stopped running

Yesterday I was driving down my local city street on the way to the freeway. The truck was cold and I was doing about 35 MPH when the thing just stopped running. Like someone shut off the spark if it was a gas engine. No sputtering just dead. I coasted to a stop in the middle of a busy street. I was stunned for a second and than I turned the key off waited about three seconds and wham it started and has run fine ever since...I have had NO problems with this truck so far with about 9k miles on the clock. I look at the overhead and there was no message. Anyone got a clue???

Never heard of this but I have a theory. Ever study random theory? There are millions of digital processes going on in these trucks at any given time. The chances that one will go wrong are high enough that something goofy will happen sometime.

Once, on a nice warm sunny day I started mine up and it was in "limp" mode. Couldn't get any more than 1000 rpm out of it. I pulled over, shut it down, started it back up and it was fine. Never did it again.

Ever have your PC lock up?
Reboot!! Fine.

I second the random theory thing.. if you don't have a CEL and it doesn't happen again and there's no change in drivability of the truck.. don't worry.

I have a 99 ram with a 5.2... with 200k on the clock it has NEVER givin me any trouble... left me stranded or anything. One night, about a month ago with a warm engine i jumped it and put it in drive... it rolled 2 feet and it shut off, no sputter no nothing. I fired it right back up.. took off..and never had a problem again.

It might have something to do with the SKIM key. It may have lost contact with the little chip inside your key and it likely died. Its just a random theory though.
