Injection questions

So I tried to search the forum. But not seeing what I want. My motor has around 30k. When it was rebuilt they put a set of reman injectors in it. I believe I have one that’s failed(I’ll make sure before I go any further). I would assume that just replacing 1 is a bad idea...With that being said...I will put a whole set in. My main question is is there a good set of reman? Or should I really go back with new?? I’ve already decided to add the cat/Baldwin twin fuel filter setup when I do this...feel free to add any advice...thanks

For what it worth, I replaced only one injector 4.5 years and 55,000 miles ago and I've not had any problems. Still runs great. I see no need to replace 5 good injectors, however, if yours are remans, you may not have 5 good injectors.

If you want to keep the engine in 1 piece and considering its usage a set of new injectors would be a good choice along with a consistent diet of additives. You might be able to replace the one failed injector and be good, or, the next thing you find will a dead cylinder and puffing blow by out the crank case vents. Yes, you can use the 143 degree nozzles with no issues. With your defined usage they would likely be a better choice.

BBI sells remans that are said to be near as good as new or so I have read.

Additives are a waste of money. And all I have heard on here is how my motor is going to be ruined because I didn't replace all of the injectors. There's no guarantee that a new injector won't fail either. By all means do what is best for you, but I'm always leary of the gloom and doom crowd that try to scare you into spending money unnecessarily. Sure, you can find anecdotal stories of this happening, or that happening, but that doesn't really mean a thing. I'm sure that I'm not the only person to replace only the one bad injector.

Remans have a much higher failure rate than new. By a very large margin. Although bbi does seem to have a good reputation.

The reason most say replace all 6 is because when 1 goes the rest usually aren't far behind. A failed injector can wreck an engine in very short order. But sometimes 6 new sticks just isnt in the budget.

IMO, depending on oil/fuel suppliers to police themselves is a mistake, added filters and additives are cheap insurance, not needed until something happens, for less then 2 cent a mile, cheaper to make sure fuel is good when it gets to injectors /engine.
Any mechanical/electrical device firing 2 times at 1500 rpm will fire 180000 times per hour, at average life of 5000 hrs, injector has seen 900,000,000 firings, pretty amazing they last as long as they do.
I would replace all with new.:wink2:

I definitely think I will add extra filtration... I’ve been using John Deere fuel protect in my tractors and have had great luck... plus Howe’s in The winter...
