I would tend to put my guess on the mechanical issue with the doors. Sounds like the command is there, but issues with the doors. There is a known problem with the doors cracking/breaking.

 

is there something better to put in than the factory door parts? If they are a known problem then I want to put something better in if it is available. Thanks

 

I wish I could give you details, but luckily I haven't run into HVAC door issues myself yet. However, I have read about them and what people do. Some just figure out how to remove some of them and live with it and others have a couple sources for aftermarket ones that are better/stronger. Probably just have to do some search and read.

 

Blendoor USA makes replacement doors that are lightyears better than the POS plastic ones in there from the factory. They are NOT cheap but they are quality pieces and fit very well.

I put them in my truck last summer when I had mode door failures. Long day of tearing the dash out but the install was easy.

Heater treater makes a set of door as well.

Holy GloNdark the links are awesome, found that this summer the hvac was making some switching sounds, meaning I could hear the air from the vents etc. changing but what did notice lately was that there was a loud roaring from the glove box area like the recirculate was on and not much air coming out of the defrost when the switch control was on defrost! Fooled around with the selector and finally the door must have shifted and closed 'cause there was air coming out of defrost and a lot quietter! Maybe there is a issue with the doors , will have to look into it deeper and resolve the issue. The issue.
