How much should it cost to get my high idle turned on on my '02??

I went to the local Dodge dealer today to get my high idle turned on with my '02 2500. Service desk says that they don't know if they can even do it, but they can hook up to the computer to see. However, it's gonna cost me $70 just for them to hook up and find out if they can do it or not...

That seems pretty ridiculous to me, when I've had several people tell me not to let them charge me for it since it's a 5 minute job...can anyone offer any input on how it should work, or what it should cost?? Can it be done on an '02??

Zero

Post for someone in your area with a Smarty.:confused013:
They can program your truck, any level, you start it once, shut it off then he returns you to stock.:stirpot:
You will still have high idle enabled!!:blues:
Well might cost a bubbly pop or two!!

This won't cause any problems at all with the smarty for whoever has it for their truck? I've heard that the smarter can and also heard that they can't be used on different trucks. One time I hear you can use it on any truck for the year range but only one at a time, and then I hear that it will only work for whatever truck it was first use to program. I would like to use a friends smarty just to turn on the high idle in my truck but don't want to end up having to buy one anyway if it would mess his up.

With a smarty you can program a million trucks for the high idle, the only catch is u can only program ONE at a time to run the catcher software. Heres how to help your buddy if u have a Smarty. Set your truck back to stock setting, unplug, turn off key, go to your buddys truck load any software setting, (I would load Zero, just in case he tries to take off after u programmed it for him, ha sucks to be him if he did.) Start it up let it run for a min, then shut it off, and BE SURE TO REPROGRAM HIS TRUCK BACK TO THE STOCK SETTING, then go back to yours and program whatever u want. Now u dont have to set your truck back to stock if you just want to read DTC's. You can read as many DTC's in as many trucks as u want, while keeping whatever setting you want on your ecm from the Smarty.

I wish I knew where I could get it done...I've gone to both my local Dodge dealership, and the Cummins shop, and both claim that it can't be done...I know they're wrong, but try telling them that!! :(

Now I just want to be able to prove them wrong, lol.
