255k on this one. looking to drive it until I die. Dont know how many that adds up to. I know i guy with 1.2million + and still going strong. If well maintained and not rusted out I am not sure where high milage is a concern.

Mine is an 01 and I'm at 405k. I've only owned it since July of 2010 so not sure what's been done to it since but I did put a new tranny in it after I bought it. The previous owner I bought it from thinks the head was replaced because it has those marks on it that junk yards put on their sold parts. Basically, you will be replacing everything else on this truck before you have to do an engine overhaul.

:agree2:

The engine is much stronger than the package! To match the engine the parts on the truck would all need to be at least twice the size they are. Figure that 95% of repairs will be on the truck and running gear.

It isn't because it is a Dodge, the same would be true for Ford or Chevy!

Based on the posts before this one, my 02 is the baby on the block. With a mere 185k, she is good as new. Uses ZERO oil between changes (every 10k).

Other parts keep on wearing out, the that old Cummins rolls on.

It's still way cheaper to fix what breaks than a payment for a new Ram.

Man wish mine still had 99k on it like it did when I bought it over 4 years ago lol. I just broke 162k on mine and still running strong, still on the stock auto trans by the way. I have a couple buddies who have between 250k and close to 300k on their Cummins and they are all still running strong. Cummins does not call for a rebuild on these motors till 500k and if taken care of properly will break that 500k number with no problem.

Yeah not sure how many to expect out of mine. Im at about 180,000 miles and still join strong. Hopefully I don't have to buy a new truck in a while...

221,700 on mine, oil changes between 3,000-4,000 miles, runs great hot rodded every now and then, nice body for an ohio truck driven every day and pulls the sled in the summer.

360k on my 94, and has been used like a diesel pickup should....pickup is pretty well shot but runs and drives like it was new

There is no such thing- as long as you keep up on the maintenance your truck will last. There is a guy on here with a second gen that has 1.2 million miles

I just read that whole thread. I worked at a dodge dealership in Vegas (towbin dodge). We had a green reg cab 2wd 12valve with over a million miles. Paint was faded but the interior and Mtr were clean no leaks.

mine must be an infant then, haha, she just rolled 100k. i do royal purple synthetic diesel oil, every 4k miles.

Oil comes out as clean as it went in.

I think you'll get a few people telling you you're wasting money doing it so soon, especially if it's coming out as good as you say it is. I see a lot of folk on here doing changes every 6k with regular oil. Since you're doing synthetic you can go much longer because I've heard synthetic is good for up to 15k miles per change. You also need to use a synthetic grade oil filter.

Anyone done an engine overhaul on the 5.9 ? Whats the cost - curious as I wanna keep mine and just keep replacing parts and upgrading and eventually overhaul/rebuild when required (hopefully many years from now)

184K on mine.

I want to sell it, not because of the Cummins but because of all the other expensive parts that fail (VP44/ NV5600, etc).

All the crap with the chassis along (death wobble, ball joints, etc) will cost you a mint to replace unless your a mechanic.

I'm confident in the motor, it's everything else that irritates me about Dodge.
