Mine is a 95 3500 flatbed, that was literally a wreck when I made a mercy purchase from a friend in New Orleans who owned a small hotshot business.
He just put the third clutch/tranny in it and it already had the fuel pump rebuilt. A couple of the injectors were shot and the interior and paint job showed its mileage. It had over a half million miles on it. He fleet maintained it and it had mostly highway miles.
He wanted 5k for it, and eventually dropped it to 3k over a year. He finally asked if I were interested, and I really wasn't, but I played with him and told him I'd buy it for 2750. He bit.
He showed me all the recent work, and it was more than the check I wrote. I figured I'd run it into the ground, but I just can't KILL this thing.
I've since put in 40hp Bosch injectors, and just recently put in a 3k GSK and #10 plate. She literally runs like brand new.
I have one of the new high efficiency cone-type Amsoil air filters (BHAF replacement) and syn oil/filter on the way.
Oh. She currently has 604k+ miles on her.
Since she's kinda grown on me, I've given her a paint job, a new interior and is looking darn good. I think I'll keep her and see how far she'll go.
I'm in the process of getting pics. I'll post them as soon as I can.
For a flatbed, she's a head turner.
I'm thinking of getting wheel adapters for semi rims.
