Im reading mixed reviews from this forum and other internet sources. The FSM states not to use the friction modifier..... but I have read that some shudder is felt in the rearend if friction modifier is not used, if it is used the shudder goes away.....

Im asking cause Im getting ready to do a rear pinion seal and fluid front and rear change.... Too bad AAM did not put drain plungs in there axles......

Ricky Thanks for any input

The FSM & OM say not to use it - unneeded.

Friction modifier is to prevent shudder with clutch type limited slip differentials. The AAM is not a clutch type. It is a Torsen helical gear style limited slip diff. No need for friction modifier.

The Dodge AAM doesn't have a drain plug? Wtf? The GM version does, and they're practically the same rear end. Weird!

I used mobil1 LS 75/90 no friction stuff and no shudder, I would not use the drain plug even if it had one. Pull the cover, the gasket is reusable by the way, spray it out with Brakleen and wipe it down, clean the threads on the cover bolts and torque to 30ft.
