For those of you new to the 1998.5-2002 2nd Gen Dodge Cummins, you can download the factory service manual for free. Simply go to PDFTown.com, type in Dodge Ram Service Manual in the search box, and select the appropriate link from the search results.

Bump. Perhaps make this a sticky for the new folks, or anyone else that needs a copy of the FSM?

Second bump. A third bump will be the limit. If it continues to fall by the wayside, I'll let it go...

Let me clarify.
The link to PDFTown works, search for Dodge Ram Service manual, chose '2001 Dodge Ram', works, but after clicking 'download' I get 'Download not available'. Maybe I'm missing another location to download from?
Anyway, like FiveNine, I've got a '99, and would prefer a manual for that model year. So I'll ask again; anywhere else to download a FSM for a '99?

I got the same thing said error the poster deleted the file because it was illegal or somthing like that

There's a link to the manual @ mopar1973man.com.
However, you have to be a member for at least 20 days and have at least 20 posts, or donate to Micheal's website to get access to downloads. Great site, but as a new Dodge Cummins owner, I don't have much but newbie questions to contribute. Maybe Micheal can chime in and let us know how much is needed in the way of a donation to access downloads. I'd hate to have to ask 20 dumb questions a day for 20 days in a row just to get access to the manual....
On another note, just checked out the Hayes manual at my local NAPA. Pretty broad; covered way too many years, drives and engines for my liking. They didn't have the Chiltons in stock, anyone know if that is any more focused than the Hayes?

Tried to download the manual for the 2001 Dodge Ram and it says it's no longer available.

Found it for $10 at this web site:

http://www.tradebit.com/tagworld.php/2001+dodge+ram

$10? My truck is worth $10... LOL Lot's better than getting frustrated trying to mooch a free copy of someone's copyrighted materials.

There's lots of results if you do a yahoo or google search for 2001 Dodge ram service manual.

Any body know where I can download one or the best one I can purchase online? I tried the link offered in the thread but it did not work. Any suggestions would be helpful. I am having problems with the power assist on my brakes and need to trouble shoot the problem.
My link for my copy works just fine. The file is large so don't expect it to just pop open.

Just download my copy. Faster and easier.

That's a great idea

I like that idea. Digital copy to research, hardcopy to get greasy hands on while fixing the truck. Where can I get a hardcopy of the downloaded manual?

Why not upload it to a Dropbox and provide a link to download it freely

Dropbox lets you store files and sync with your various devices. You can set up sub directories and give others access to only those files. pdftown used to be free. I haven't been there for a while.

A main difference between the 01 and previous engines is that the 01 gets timing from cam sensor where 00 and earlier also had a crank sensor.

To those that feel the hassle of downloading FREE files is too much to bear, you're welcome to buy the hard copy and/or disk from Dodge. In other words, b itcherquichen.

Thanks Clunk, for that link. It gets me into the FSM lickety split. Now if I can just figure out how to download it... lol Sometimes I'm not too sharp with computers.
And thanks to Junkman for the info on the drop box. I don't wish to store it on line however, I am trying to download a complete set of Ram/Cummins manuals on flash drives from '89 to present. I especially need a service manual for early '98 5.9L 12V with the manual pump because I own one. The majority of repair work I get seems to be Ram/Cummins. Funny, I never see any Gen Ones in my shop. Since they are the oldest, I would expect them to be in the greatest need of repair.

Old Mercedes are the same way regarding drive trains. The old mechanical injection pumps just keep running. The only time mine has stopped was when the fuel filter was plugged. 5 minutes with a crescent wrench and screw driver fixed that.

the mopar1973man.com forum has a whole bunch of factory service manuals.

Not sure but I think you need to be member who occasionally makes a donation to keep his website up and running. (I actually donated money to him this month. Great resources!)
