Emissions on Tuning opinion CPS vs CCS

Hello all,

I am new here, I sold a LBZ Duramax and recently bought a 17 2500. I told myself that I would not modify the new truck but I can’t leave anything alone and these black Friday sales have the gears turning... anyway I have searched and searched and cannot really find what I am looking for.

I have narrowed my tuners to EZlynk and either Calibrated Power or Coopers Custom Solutions. I had my old truck tuned with Calibrated and liked them but eventually found myself in a position where I always had a check engine light due to certain mods I did to the truck and a tune update that no longer supported those. I found a lot of information about CPS compliant tuning but not really anything on CCS. I have absolutely no plan to have an uncompliant truck until something major fails. I love how quite the new truck is and not having to practically yell to have a conversation. I do not want drone when towing either.

I guess after a maybe pointless intro is:

How do CPS and CCS compare?

An opinion on another tuner is welcomed. I see the CTT sticky and am working through that.

PPEI seemed popular in the Duramax world, I cannot put my finger on it but I never cared for PPEI.

I know the early trucks had more issues with the emissions systems but they have been pretty well sorted out once the SCR and DEF entered the picture. What is the typical lifespan of the emissions components once tuned?

I do lean towards CCS for a few reasons: it’s cheaper, I have more flexibility down the road for certain mods, and I have not found anything bad about them.

is EFI live better then EZlynk?

Does tuning interfere with AlfaOBD at all?

Any input is welcomed.

Thanks!

Calibrated Power has been doing emissions intact tuning the longest.

They've invested a lot of time and effort into understanding modern SCR emissions systems.

CCS I've personally had good experience with, albeit on a pre-emissions LLY truck.
Mitch tuned my truck back when he was a Kijiji only outfit. Before he officially made it!

I thought (assumed) Mitch did the tuning? Either way, they are extremely quick to respond and I haven't heard anything bad about them yet.

I’ve been using CP on my 18 for about 1-1/2 years now, had a couple of issues when they sent tune revisions. The revisions would affect my memories or cruse control. They work it out and have no more issues, truck runs great and pulls like a freight train.

As someone who has ran 2 different delete tunes and CP's intact, I wouldn't even spend the money on CP's intact tuning if I could do it all again. It was smooth, and worked fine but absolutely forgettable when it comes to actually adding performance or drivability. The highest setting doesn't even hold a candle to CCS's tow tune.
