Dyna trac ball joint greasing / lower

Back ground info :

Sons truck , 4.5 cummins 4x4 ( like my 05 but MUCH faster lol )

While turning front wheels lock to lock it has developed a distinct hitch in the gitty up. That is a gripe ing / binding studder noise . Just about narrowed it down to the ball joints or stub axel u joints .

It has the dyna trac ball joints , which are undoubtedly a quality joint .

Narrowing things down , I fully greased the uppers ( they did take quite a bit )
Still does the gripe ing noise .

So that leaves the lower ball joints and a possible stuck axel u joint .
How does one grease the lowers without unit bearing and axel removal ? As always with any lower its damn tight in there .

Is it possible to surgically re move the lil 1/8" pipe plug and temp put in a 90 grease fitting ? Has anyone attempted this ?

Thanks all

Yep !

To further diagnose I guess :

Try to grease lowers as is , if at all possible

Pop one side at a time steering arm ,, turn rotor n hub back and forth ( simulating turning ) vigorously feeling for stiffness / binding trying to tell if it's a u joint or ball joint

Ahhh the fun of it all ...

A word of caution if you buy the Legacy 2144 90 degree greaser. Putting too much down pressure on it will snap it in two where the size changes down for the 90 degree portion. For some odd reason I purchased 2 of them and I am now very careful when I use my last one. I think EMF and Carli have a better design for where the grease nipple is on their lower ball joints.

10 4 thanks for the warning !!

I did manage to take out the 1/8" pipe / grease plug and it's quite special , concave with checkball like a standard zerk . Then fished in a 90' zerk I had , threaded it in some and found it was still too tite in there for connection to grease gun . Also a standard grease needler wasn't compatible and didn't work on the temp 90' fitting I found . Ohh well I just HAD to try with what I had on hand !!! An hour later of frustration it had it back to the way it was .
Then I found a concave needler ( instead of the pointy needler I tried ) I forgot I had and it actually WOULD HAVE WORKED when I had the temp 90 zerk in there . But ohh hell no I ain't fishing that crap back in there again !

Anyway I'll get that Funky looking correct needler and grease them up properly to further diagnose the problem .

It's my sons truck and he hasn't fully committed to tearing it appart . If it was mine I would have already took that biatch appart till I found the root cause .
But hey the weekend is coming , and I'm shure we will get after it full on .
Thanks
