Dpf-r Code Free Kit Vs Badp Gen 2

Hello everyone with a 6.7L cummins.
I've been following all the forums about the 6.7 dpf delete kits.

I find that DPF-R Emulator kit is the safest and easiest way to delete the DPF. There are no cutting or splicing of wires and it is truly a plug and play kit. And it is untraceable and can be removed and put back to stock.

When compared to the Badp Dpf Code free kit the DPF-R Emulator ver. 3.0 kit it is less complicated. And DPF-R claims a 100% CODE FREE.

check it out, its at DPF-R

So is there anyone out there that is running the DPF-R Ver. 3.0 Emulator kit?

Yeah thats the problem, Badp is more well known, DPF-R is not new to DPF delete kits, they've been out for awhile.

Well Mr BADP you seem alittle bit angry.
I do not work for DPF-R, I'm simply pointing out the differences. From the forums I've read BADP seems to be having some problems with their Code free kits, and from reading the instructions on how to install the GEN2 kit you do have to splice a wire!

The DPF-R is the only true plug and play. There is no cutting of any wires. Not even one. They have their installation manuals on their website. check it out and read all the info before getting mad at me!

Here are some info from their site.

The DPF-R is a small computer that talks to the ECU. The DPF-R was developed by an Automotive Technician and a Embedded Computer Developer for the Ford and Dodge off road and racing community.

The DPF-R:

Resets the DPF Filter counter in the ECU
Resets the SOx filter counter in the ECU (Dodge only)
Clears codes
requires a delete pipe and sensor emulators to be completely code free.
The DPF-R:

IS NOT a programmer. It can be used in conjunction with *any chip or programmer.
Does NOT use the anti-bounce counters.
The DPF-R is designed to empower dpf delete pipe makers to create a code free solution. We have a code free solution for the Ford and Dodge trucks.
The DPF-R is not directly giving better performance and mileage, but opening the exhaust and stopping re gen will obviously improve both performance and mileage.

I hope that answers some questions.

I'm not saying that BADP GEN2 is a bad kit, I'm simply giving other people different options.

From what I know the box connects in to the diagnostic port and it even has a pass through port where you can still use a scan tool. When you start the truck you have to wait 15 seconds after the key is in the on position. This is when the box resets everything and clears the codes. Kinda like the edge. Now to make it code free you have to use to Emulator. (according to DPF-R)

The emulator it self is very simple, just plug it in and go.
No cutting or splicing of any wires.

In terms of being safe, its being safe with the EPA because all you have to do is simply unplug everything and put the DPF back on and presto, Just like new!

Just my 2 cents

Its not code free, IT has a built in Code Clearing event in it. If you have to wait 15 secs before you can start the truck it means it is clearing codes. Having to wait 15 secs SUCKS, Let me explain to you why it is.

I have to wait just a few secs for the PMT to clear my EGR code. Here is why it sucks. Every time Somebody wants to drive my truck, Everytime I bring it in for some type of service, Tire change, inspection sticker or what ever it is. I have explain to who ever is going to drive my truck that you have wait "x" amount of time or dings or lights flashing on the dash before you start the truck. NoBody ever seems to get it, then they tell I have a Check Engine Light, Very irritating.

Another reason why clearing codes on start up Suck. What if you do have a problem but you have no idea because you just cleared the code for the past two weeks. That small problem just turned into a huge problem because you had no idea because the codes where being cleared.

Like I said, I have to clear on start up due to the EGR. But My DPF is code Free because there is only ONE company as of this moment that builds a TRUELY Code free kit, BADP. And yes I am bias!

Thats what it sounds like to me as well. It just resets to counter. As a matter of fact thats what it says on the website. It resets everything.

#12 ·
Once again, I do not work or DPF-R.
I'm simply a customer looking for the best DPF Delete kit. And so far there are only 2 code free kits on the market. BADP and DPF-R.

I am sorry if I had offended Badp trucks, that was not my intent.

sounds like its script writing software which resets the counter each time if you ask me, but im just gonna shut my trap and watch 90210!!!!!

Well lets get back to the question.

Is there anyone out there running the DPF-R ver. 3.0 emulator kit?

And I'm not trying to put BADP down, I'm just interest in the DPF-R. Because you don't hear to much about this kit. So I wanted to create a thread about the DPF-R. There are plenty of threads about BADP and some about HS. But I want to talk about DPF-R.

No offense to BADP. I think you guys work hard to create a great product. :thumbsup

i went with badp because of the customer serivice. i don't have the code free version, and there were no wires to cut or splice. Shane was awesome to work with, he and his company is very well known, and i recomend them to everyone i meet who ask me why my pickup is so much louder than theres. Untill DPF-r gets as well known as Bay Area, I have a feeling they will dominate the DPF delete scene.

#23 ·
Your right, BADP is dominating the DPF delete scene. But DPF-R has been around awhile. They just don't advertise well. I first read about DPF-R on turbodieselregister.com
like at the beginning of the year. Ruffly about the same time HS and BADP were first coming on the scene with their deletes, or what I can remember.

My $.02

I have the H&S kit. Absolutely no cutting, plug and play. Plug in three egt foolers, that's it.

I have left the pressure tap connected. Throws the normal delete codes which my PMT clears in about 5 seconds.

So how is this DPF-R thing better than that. The comments about it being undetectable are outright lies. I am good freinds with my dealer mechanic and he says the starscan can tell that codes are being cleared. It keeps a record of thrown codes and the act of clearing them.

I got a complete 4 inch turbo back system for $550 delivered. So again. How is this DPF-R better than that?

#26 ·
Well I'm no lier, But thats what DPF-R claims. It also has a pass through connection, that maybe why its untraceable. I don't know for sure, just what I read.

Please check out the web site and read before accusing people or company's that they are lying.

#29 ·
I did check out the site. I stand by my comments. A pass thru is a connector, that is all. The fact that they are connected to the OBDII port proves they are just clearing codes after the codes are generated.

I did not mean to imply that you were involved.

#30 ·
Thank you. It might be traceable or it might not be, we will never know unless someone out there is running this kit. There was another thread on here titled DPF-R and the guy on there said he has the DPF-R module but not the emulator, and he said he will be ordering the emulator soon. Hopefully he sees this thread and will update us on his kit.

I've been told that the Starscan has a feature that will reset all sensor values to default including the regen parameters, my guess that it is there for when a new DPF assembly is installed. If this is true then it would make sense that the DPF-R could have the capability of resetting the regen parameters as well as clearing codes.

The term 'untraceable' probably applies to the average dealership tech who might not know (or care) where to look for such things, it is my belief that if an experienced tech or engineer starts digging around they can find pretty much anything.

I suppose this is all well and good 99dodge, pretty busy for your first day on the forum. I must say that I have gone and read your initial posts and they seem more like ads for companies than actual fact finding threads.

#50 ·
Yeah busy, I was not expecting this much comments.
My original question has only been answered by one person. But not bad for my first day.

In order to post my question I have to describe the product. So it may seem like ad's. But its good to have options.

The H&S/DPF R V3 is the kit I have. I have it listed in my sig as H&S since the pipe is from H&S. The only code I have is from the lack of a EGR or Cooler. And yes my CEL is on at all times do to the EGR. I dont have any problems that I know of. It took me about a hour to instal. I think I was one of the first few customers to buy the DPF R V3 kits.
