Gonna install a new vb this week and was wondering if I can change the second gear band while the trans is still in the truck or do you have to pull it out to do it?? It's slipped a little on me occassionally and was wondering if I should change it or just adjust it?? I realize once the new vb is in it should greatly improve the line pressure thus help the "slipping" I think I have. The bands have never been adjusted yet and the trans has 35000 miles on it. If i can't do it in the truck then I'll just adjust them and pray.Thanx

The trans has to come out to change the band.
Stock band is probably fine unless you into some serious torque abuse.
Your performance valve body should eliminate the slippage and also decrease the overlap between shifts which is hard on the band.
This is of course assuming your trans is otherwise in good shape internally.
Look at the drum that the band applies against while the valve body is out.
As long as it isn't Blue or scored you're probably OK.
