Cycling the Key to read codes

I just watched a video showing me that when you cycle the ignition three times it shows the code on the dash. I was under the impression that it was supposed to reset the computer of the engine oil info that tells you when to change the oil. If anyone has any clarification I would appreciate it.

cycling the key 3 times shows current codes. Turning the key on and then pressing brake pedal 3 times ( or something like that ) resets oil change.

Shows in manual about reseting oil service, not sure if i had it correct there or not

Well it works as advertised except it doesnt give me the code. It just says done then the engine light flashes for 15 seconds and goes back to a solid illumintion. Guess I better get it in to shop.

Are you expecting a code? Your MIL on? When i do it, i do it pretty quickly and the 3rd turn it stays in the on postion. Shows whatever codes i have then says "done" When i never had any codes it would just come up "done"

Well it gives me dashes, no code. After 5-10 seconds it says done. I took a dash hawk to it the other week when I got the MIL light and it gave me a MAF(mass air flow) code and two unkowns. The next time I started it up the light went out. I am assuming its the same thing.

Where do you expect to see the codes?

I turned the key 3 times but only see the engine light...

Is there any other tip?

Thank you.

I read on here somewhere that Chrysler/Dealers were getting ticked at people trying to self-diagnose the problems with these motors (and possibly use the info as legal ammunition.) and after a certain level of flash (I think it was AX for '07s) reading codes by cycling the key is disabled. Anyone else know anything about this? I guess I can try when I get home, I currently have a fuel pressure code, time for a new filter I guess...

I also have an 06 I'm trying to read codes on. I'm not getting anything. After 10 seconds or so passes, the CEL flashes 10 times and back on steady......any ideas?

I always called my dealer and told them the codes before I took it to them. They had no problem with that, it actually helped the the truck out quicker because they had a heads up on whats wrong. I have had the engine light come on sometimes and no codes on the dash.

I had 2 lights show up on my 07, the lightening bolt (speed control I believe) and the engine light. After a while the speed control light went out and then later after restarting the engine the engine light went out. I tried retrieving the codes before the engine light had went and I also got just all dashes and then it would read DONE. I have my truck at the dealer now getting oil changed and the 2 latest recalls taken care of. They are suppose to read the codes and hopefully put on the latest reflash. Oh also asked them to see about the speaker replacement deal. Bet they don't do anything with that.
