Anyone have pics of crossover steering and how it clears with a sway bar. They seem to occupy the same space.

Do much heavy towing? I think the only reason a truck with straight axle and leaf springs would need a sway bar is to stabilize heavy loads... my first truck had a 2 inch lift and no sway bar had zero issues and my current truck has one and I really haven’t seen much of a difference. On coil spring suspension??? Yes street driven trucks need a sway bar.

damn iPhone always turning my pics!

Yes I plan on towing, truck is still being built as I speak. I’m not dead set on running one, but I want to front/rear eventually. Seems like a good idea in theory.

The one rusty pic is a ramcharger at my local pick n pull for $27. I’ll prob just get it and stash till I figure it out.

You may try it without one, if your springs aren’t super soft and mushy your probably just fine towing without it.... leaf spring trucks and suvs never had sway bars until Ralph Nader went on his rampage. Still 27 bucks is a good deal id buy that in a heartbeat

I’m driving it now with new stock height springs up front with jungle +2 mount and old stock rears w a leaf added to drivers side.

It’s taller than I am expected and does feel a lil top heavy around corners. Part of my logic is all the new trucks have them so I should too lol

New trucks have them because of government regulations and they are coil spring suspension... leaf springs resist twist and act as their own sway bars in a way, coils do not.

I'd like to do cross over a s well, but want to keep my sway bar too. I'm leery about doing it on my set up since I'm running a 2 leaf parabolic spring pack on each side in the front and think that it might wallow too much without the sway bar.

As far as i know you have to fab up something to make it work. Seems most people including myself leave them off or fabricate tract bars.

you mean for the rear I assume? I am not a fan of track bars (unless they have a shackle), but the one I had in mind would allow for one regardless. they attach to the leaf hanger like this

I will probably grag the ramcharger bar because its cheap. the factory chevy one might work better due to shape and since my d60 is a chevy unit.

Sway bar no need on a first gen if you want nice steering .once you go crossover you will Never go back to stock .Even with 6 in lift and big tires truck handles Nice going down the road and no sway .

When I put Deavers up front on my truck I left the swaybar off and noticed no difference. Even with a few inches of lift up front (truck still had a slight rake, the old springs were sagged and gull-winged), I noticed no bad effects. Even coming off the freeway on curved off ramps at speed, it was very stable and never gave me worry. I really wish a did the crossover steering, it should be a huge improvement for you. I'd ditch the swaybar and install the steering and see what you think. You can always whip something up later. Worst case scenario, you'll like the crossover much more than you'll miss the swaybar.

In comparison, my 2011 with coil springs up front and big Kings, even with the swaybar on, will roll more. With the swaybar off the new truck is a boat and I can roll the truck over its axis by turning the wheel and still keep it going straight down the road hehe
