I'm very interested in adding Auxiliary Switches to my 2019 Ram 3500. Has anyone done it to a 2019? If so what all does it entail? How difficult is it?

I have 3 Relays and 3 Fuses....see pic. Thank you.

These are the switches I have on my dash.

I would also like to know if it would be simple to add. I have my doubts since the aux switches are configured by the gauge cluster.

As for the relays, I don’t think the aux switches uses any as the outputs are triggers. You can’t power any loads with them, you need to install a relay to control whatever load you want to use. (Correct me if I’m wrong).

The switch bank and the programming are the easy part. Easiest way the get the part number for the switch bank is to search auto trader for a truck that has the aux switches and the same upper row of switches you have, get the VIN of that truck, and message Benny at allmoparparts and ask him for the part number of the switch bank in that truck. This is the VIN of a truck with the switch bank @Cummins0867 would need- 3C63R3SL4KG620237. AlfaOBD can do the programming for the switches. The hard part is the exploratory/discovery work needed to find out what wiring is missing. First thing we need to know is if the connector for the aux switches portion of the switch bank is present behind the center stack-

The easiest way to do this without removing the center stack with radio is to see if the aux control wires from that connector are present in the next connector down the line. You’ll be looking for this 59 way connector somewhere in the area above the brake/parking brake pedal, or behind the side kick panel-

Looking to see if the marked wires for the aux relay controls are in those positions on that half of the connector.
Next, in the AUX Fuse box, none of the output sides of the m-case fuse terminals are present, but I can’t tell if any of the terminals are even present for the relays that need to be installed.

I cant do much today as its snowing, raining and sleeting here in New England. The terminals are in the Aux fuse box for the fuses but the terminals aren't there for the relays. I'm not sure about the wiring underneath the Aux fuse box. Under the dash with the black terminal XY125A the main coating around the bulk of wires is marked with yellow tape. I have been told that "yellow tape" is the marking for airbags. Before I unplug and inspect I'll have to disconnect the battery's so I don't deploy the airbags (too snowy today). It does look like terminal 40 on that connector going in does have a "brown wire" into terminal 40. 40 is supposed to be Brown and Gray. I didn't have very good light I know its brown but I didn't see gray. I have to wait for better weather.

@2Good4U do you already have the factory Auxiliary switches? You can have the Auxiliary switches without the Upfitter. As the Auxiliary and Upfitter are two different options from the factory.

What side of the truck did you take the pic from?

I don't have either option from the factory, I am assuming that all trucks will be pre-wired at least from the center stack to the larger connector on the driver floor board. Not sure what you mean, the photo is taken behind the center stack.

I want to stick with the OEM setup so I don't have to add switches....I'm trying to keep it clean looking.

P68361228AC Big bag with really thick wires.
P68398184AC Medium size bag with smaller size wires.
P68415000AA Bag with some type of plastic cover, similar to a cabin air filter cover, but has female connectors molded on it.

Not yet. I ordered the switches and the wiring that comes with the truck when the switches are factory. Also a couple of other part numbers associated with the Auxiliary PDC. One of them is on back order and Im not exactly what Im getting with those part numbers.
I'm working on getting the AlfaOBD.
I also contacted my dealer as I have a pretty good insider (a relative that works in the service dept) to see if the sales code "LHL" can actually be added to my truck. I think they want me to have switches installed first before attempting to add the sales code.
I also contacted 4thgenelectronics. They are telling me that they cant get the EVIC turned on due to heightened security on the BCM like they could on the 4th gens. Which is why they currently don't offer them for the 5th gens.

I should have been more proactive on updating the thread. I have also been researching other old thread on here about adding the switches on the 4th gens.
So currently at a stand still. Ill keep the thread updated as I gain information.
Thank you for the interest

If you get AlfaOBD, you don’t need to worry about the dealer and the sales code. Not sure what 4thgenelectronics is talking about. Their kit is just the switch bank, some custom wiring, and a custom fuse/relay box (instead of the factory one). You just wire the kit in, and it will work with the switches on their default configuration. They don’t have anything to do with programming the bcm, so, if they wanted to build a kit for the 5th gens, they would do the exact same thing they are now, except use 6 relays and fuses in their boxes instead of five.
All the sales code, or using AlfaOBD does is gives you the ability to change the switches from latching/momentary, power state, and remember last state. Otherwise, you just plug the kit in and use it, but the switches will just have default settings (can’t remember, but 1-4 would be latching, and 5-6 would be momentary, for example)

So to be clear, so far we know you need the switch panel (part number depends on your specific truck configuration), and these 3 part numbers which would connect from whatever your accessory is back to the connections under the hood. Do we have the rest of the parts to go from in the cab to under the hood?

So far I ordered the following...but not sure exactly what everything is or is it what I need. I'm still waiting parts as some are on back order for some reason.

Auxiliary Power Distribution Center Kit 68398184AC
Instrument Panel Switch 68376645AE
Jumper Wiring 68398183ab
Jumper Wiring 68410379ab

I think the last two are the 2 connector (gray) wiring but we'll see.

I didn't order that first part number you have because tha'ts the VSIM wiring.

Currently, I'm waiting for the parts and the weather to break....which could be a few months here in New Hampshire. Its going to happen, its just a matter of when. I'm going to make it s close to OEM as I can. Ill keep updating this thread as long as it doesn't get closed.

Yeah, looks like the battery side of the fuses are already distributed, with the male terminals in place. The box needs to be removed and taken apart so all the other wiring can be done inside of it. All the relay side of the fuses need to be populated with male pins, and jumped over to all the #30s of the relays. All the relay #87 output wires need to be populated with the female 6.3mm tabs and inserted into the 87 relay spots. The output wires then exit the box to the output female and male connectors that attach to the passenger side of the box. The inputs from the switches enter the box with terminals that get populated to #86 of all the relays.
Then, connector C5 pin 31 of the main fuse box gets populated with a wire that runs to the aux fuse box, and gets distributed to #85 on all the relays. Have to find the right 6.3mm terminals for the relays that have the correct tabs to lock into the plastic slots of the aux box.

Update.....

I received the switches and installed them. The install was pretty easy except removing the trailer brake was a little difficult but I got it. All of my original switches work with no issues...however..... with the Aux switch panel installed the Auxiliary switches don't light up And they aren't in the settings of the Uconnect 8.4). I'm also set up with the AlfaOBD and I tried to turn them but no success as of yet. I can connect to the truck with AlfaObd for the 2016-2017 year model truck but it doesn't write and turn them on. Has anyone had success with a 2018 or a 2019?

Maybe @Jimmy07 can chime in and give me some pointers? Or do I need to have the switch fully wired under the hood for it to work? I haven't ran the signal wire from the switch panel to the box yet....is this why it won't update and show the switch programming on my 8.4 Uconnect radio?

Sorry for all of the questions.

Based on the wiring schematics I saw, you'd need it wired under hood. That's where they pull power from.

Yes thats the exact menu that I did (car configuration change, enable CustSetMenu 1 AUX switches CSM for the 1-4 option) then it said unable to confirm the change. I was wondering if it would take some time to show up. I'll run for a day or so and then try it again. When I connect to the AlfaOBD the newest model is the 2016-2017....but when it connects it says 2016 is what its connected to. I don't think there's a way that I can specifically connect to the MY2017.

Thanks for the information...as always I do appreciate everyone's input.

After assessing the information in this thread, internet research and others past information that installed the switches and getting them to work. I believe this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to order the wiring harness and auxiliary PDC from 4thgenramelectronics. Then wire it into the 59 pin connector, at the drivers kick panel to get the signal from the switches. Then use the second Auxiliary PDC, mounting it under the hood then tapping my accessories into it. This kit is all pre-wired.

I came to this conclusion due to the OEM like connectors needed and only being available in large quantities. It would be a few hundred additional dollars just for the connectors. Then the unknown of the OEM Auxiliary PDC and whats needed to wire it up.

Ill keep everyone posted with what I do and hopefully Ill get some pics in the process. Once again the weather isn't cooperating.
