ABS light on... Can I pull codes???

I have my ABS light on. I cycled the key for the OBD but that must not include the abs circuit because I just got the 55 "end of sequence" code.

My question is, how can I tell why the ABS light is on??

Thanks in advance,
Adam

I would bet it's the clockspring. Do you have cruise? if yes does it work? Or I should say, does the light turn on in the dash when you press on your cruise button?

Same thing on mine, cruise wasn't working, ABS light was on, changed the clockspring, and problem is solved. I found out that it was pretty common on these trucks, after i had changed mine.

Thanks

There is a way to pull ABS codes with the key trick by shorting two prongs on the OBD connector together before you start the test.
Unfortunately I've never done it and can't tell you which two prongs it is.
Perhaps someone will chime in or you can do a search.

A 1996 should be OBD2 compliant. Going to advance auto (maybe other parts stores also) and using their OBD2 reader should show any codes at no cost.

have to scan abs not engine:party018:
I didn't know there was a difference :confused013: perhaps the kid made a mistake

My ABS doesn't work, and it doesn't give me a code:banghead::banghead:

BTW I replaced the rear dif sensor

Apologies, my good man, I thought I read air bag light. Sorry for the confusion.

In that case I would check the sensor on the axle. Mine was acting up, and would not work sometimes and light came on and off. No codes or nothing came up, so I checked to see if the connections were all good, and pulled the sensor to see if was okay, and there was a crack all around the sensor. Bought a new one and not a problem since.

It will take a few mins to check the sensor.

Thanks
