Do the regular cab long bed trucks share the same frame on a extended cab short bed? Truck looks super clean.

I’m pretty confident they don’t considering the cab mounts differ from the bed mounts.

Ended picking up some synergy parts, tie rod and drag link. Installed and aligned. Steering is complete, it steers like my 4th gen.

didnt end up putting the stabilizer back on and haven’t noticed a difference. Took a 300 mile road trip yesterday with it.

PO gave me some sway bar endlinks and none of them fit. Rebuilt the originals the best I could with the bushings though.

truck looks awesome! Doing some great work on that thing. I’m half way through my 96. The 2nd gens are definitely a labor of love.

They sure are.

I gave the truck a heavy coat of Corrosion Free yesterday. Not looking forward to working under it next time.

I also found the last 8 digits of the donor truck, VM516916. This is on the passenger side firewall and also bottom passenger side frame rail just under the door. I'm trying to decode the rest of the VIN.... I know its a 97 club cab, 2500, V8, 4x4 SRW.

Changed out a bad wheel bearing plus some new pads/rotors.

First time seeing the rotor sandwiched between the hub and knuckle. What an odd, silly design. If I knew that’s how it was beforehand I’d have replaced the other wheel bearing as well.

Love the work you’ve been doing, I had the lower portion of my 16 Line-X’d along with the bumpers a few years ago and love it.

I like the late 2nd gen floor console im planning on doing that to the 97 I’ve been redoing. Do you know how it was mounted? Do you know if that’s the early bent shifter with the bend covered by the boot or did they swap to the later style square top shifter assy on the nv4500?

Im either going to swap a square top with straight stick onto my 97 or an nv5600. I just bought an 03 6spd im taking the tranny from and parting the rest. But I’m not sure if I’ll put it in the 97 or P24V 98.

Could you be a bit more specific? I've owned my '97 club cab since new. I looked around a bit today and couldn't spot any VIN numbers in those locations.

Thanks! I try to stay away from projects because I know they always snowball into me going thru everything.

Shifter boot is hiding the bend, I assume it’s the early shifter setup. It’s a 97 cab, so it’s mounted the factory way…bracket at the top and screws in cup holders and I think one in 4wd shifter area.

when calling my local dealer looking for new parking brake cables, they were able to give me the entire VIN from the last 8.
