I was at a truck stop today and there was another fella with a cummins truck pulled in and i started talking with him about his truck because it had 180k on the 6.7 motor so i asked him what he had all done.. and he told me he had to replace 2 injectors recently and thats all.. i asked how much that run him and he said it wasnt much.. that he did it himself.. so i was like.. what like 500 each?? and he said no.. he just bought some remans from the diesel store. so i told him i didnt know they had remans out already for the 6.7 and he told me that the 6.7 injectors are the same as the 5.9 2007 CR..... is this true??

a quick question in regards to this post...I thought at one point i read somewhere that the 6.7 injectors communicate with the ECM and that they are programmed specifically for each truck? Question being how can you replace the injectors and have them work? or have i been misinformed?

These injectors are programmed to the trucks. You cant swap positions around like we could with the 5.9s ...You cant swap #1 and #5 injector around in the 6.7s. As far as swapping sets out, i think the new set needs to be programmed to the truck. I read where there are several different injectors that will work for a certain truck though. Like , a certain truck can run injectors that have a certain serial # on them. I think its something like that..

You need to have the dealer software to put these flow coefients in for each injector...

I can see how they will run ok when you just throw them back in the same motor but not in the right order, but unless the flow coefients are very close to the same for all six injectors, they will not be right and may or maynot run so good...

My luck with this sort of thing would be to have one hole get way too lean from getting them out of the order they should be installed and nuking that hole, while the other may have gone pig rich and it being ok but not great... Make any sense???

HAHA NO biggie, im just stirring it up......LOL Now, about the 6.7 injectors, can you swap yours all around and still have it run ok ? I thought they had to go back in where they came from ? Maybe since they are aftermarket is why they can be swapped around ??

In short the 5.9 injector operates on a higher voltage than the 6.7 injector. The capacitors have also been increased on the 6.7 to accommodate for the decrease in voltage witch is 48.The ECM is capable of a min to max adjustment,as long as the injector is within the tables of what the ECM can adjust it does not matter where you put them regardless of if its a whole set are just one.Just as speedy said,i to have never reprogrammed my ECM after a injector change and Ive done quite a few.BUT i can also say i have seen one instaled that was out of its range of adjustment. It will run like $hit and it will throw a code for a incompatable code number along with a cylinder performance etc....etc...
