I've been thinking about ordering a shift kit for my 04.5. I'm saving to actually build the transmission but figured if do a shift kit to help out for now. I have a smarty tntr. A few buddy's say it's a waste of money and some say do it. Trans doesn't slip or shutter. You guys think it's worth doing or no?

If you are not having issues, don't do it. When you rebuild, then consider valve body and usually best to get valve body built or exchanged with company that can bench test their units.

Save your money for when you rebuild!

if you feel that you can do it, then put one in. What does a trans builder do, a shift kit with few more ''tweks'' that they do. its your money and your truck do what you want. I spent 60 bucks on Ebay an put a shift kit in my truck did a few other small tweks and it was the best money ive spent on it.

If your gonna do that you should just go head an get a torque converter, input shaft and valve body. And have a decent little setup

I would either have someone who knows what they're doing with a 48 build you a complete VB, or do nothing at all...

There are several mods that need to be made in the 48RE valve body besides what the "shift kits" address.

If you are using much of the extra power, then you'll be having some issues pretty soon.
A shift kit will boost the line pressure to give the clutches more holding power.
And most of the kits will give you some fluid flow to the converter in park, where stock there is no flow.
In the end the converter lock up clutch is the weak link, and the shift kit won't do much to help that.
