I believe this is a common problem. I replaced the ones on my 2011 after about 6 months. The replacements lasted about the same. After that I said it's not worth it anymore.
There are several threads and a nice how to posted here somewhere for replacing them.
On a '14 I assume you still have a warranty. They're really easy to replace, but for what they charge for the part I'd make the dealership eat it. I recently spent $180 just for parts to replace the puddle lights and mirror turn signals, and that was buying them online at a discount. Buying them from the dealership would've cost even more.
One mopar puddle lamp is around $40 shipped on eBay. It was worth it for me to just buy the new lamp and take the two minutes to replace it vs dealing with the hassle of taking the truck to the dealer and wasting half a day... Just my .02
Went to the dealer today - they ordered replacements for both sides. Parts are coming from Detroit so it could take a week for the parts to make it to California. They are covered under warranty.
Fellas. For the puddle lights, you need to use a fair amount of Dielectric (sp?) grease. Also if you search on Amazon/EBay there are a few companies that offer 10 year or for a few bucks more a lifetime warranty on these. With the rate they go out its a no brainer to buy them and keep the receipt. They have a newer part number as of mid 2014. I got the newer ones this time but sadly they look the same as the ones I replaced. Water just gets in and corrodes these things. Anyway most dealers will replace them under the 3/36 warranty, I can't stand wasting time so I ordered the ones off the interweb with a 10 year warranty.
Is the circuitry boards open on back and moisture can get to them, haven't had mine out yet if so could we not put a epoxy coating on them to seal them up.
