I currently am running the V3 175 tune as a DD. I don't plan on keeping it that way, but I haven't had a chance to change it back to the 120. It seems to be working fine. I'm not doing any boosted launches and dont really get on hit in high gears because my EGT's are flying past 1600 by the time I hit 55 mph, so I back off. Mileage this last tank was 15.0 with 50/50 highway/city. Before the deletes and tune I was getting 10.5 on the same sort of driving conditions. Although I don't have any complaints, I will be going back to one of the 120 hp tunes because I don't want to take a chance on blowing this transmission.

With these higher HP tunes the chatter comming out of the Tq converter is not good.

I run V1 175 24/7, it's my everything tune. That tune is a keeper. No chatter and tranny holding good. It's all in how you drive. It's like what Spiderman's Grandpa said to him. "With great power, comes great responsibility." You just got to drive responsibly and not hammer it every take off or do boost 4 wheel drive launchs.

It actually is not about hammering when you hear the TQ converter. I highly doubt you Tq converter is not chattering/shudering you just aren't hearing it. Ya, your tranny is holding up, but for how long? Even if you baby it it is wearing out at an much faster rate.

Considering there is only a 36000 mile waranty on the trans I dont think these trannies were designed to last forever anyways!!! Use it like you want to use it ! And then do the necessary upgrades when you can afford it before you blow something up !!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I am all for it, but to think that if you just drive it light footed is not wearing it out quick is forgetting you have doubled the HP and TQ. What is the point of having a tuner cranked up in the first place if you are not using it? Run it on a lower setting then or take it off.

Right now there just is not that much out there and the ATS way overpriced tranny does not do it for me. The only thing I would buy at this point is a new Tq Converter.

Im running the 175 ver 1 and with 40's cruising 65 mph using down hills to advantage to cruise up next hill i averaged 18mpg. I run that tune all the time and I have not had any weird tranny noises as of yet. I dont have any gauges as of yet also, but that does not mean i dont haul @ss. The hottest i have seen my engine temps is 200 and no hotter so i imagine im not getting super, super hot. I love this tune, the reason why i dont upload the 120 is that it takes to long. I like being able to smoke the mustangs and new challengers, literally smoke, black smoke!! The only thing i would say to you guys that are thinking and wanting the Xrt is just do it, the experience of hauling ( on closed course:headbang:) is unreall with a diesel.

Do you have an XRT? No? That's what I thought. Opinions are like belly buttons, everyones got one but you seem to have several.

You mean just like your opinions?lol Actually, I ride in a truck once a week or so and have driven it on a couple occasions with an XTR, so my opinion is valid and that truck sure has it. Just like my truck with the Smarty does. With experience you will be able to get a feel for what is going on in your tranny. Also the other reports from XRT/Smarty owners are not valid either? Maybe they slipped a triple disk in your truck for fun on the assembly line.

This is not an XRT verse Smarty issue as everyone running the high HP tunes is on borrowed time as a daily driver. Giving other advise is naive. OK?

I agree with skin, there is just no problem with 175 as daily driver. It doesnt smoke unless you step on it hard. If you want to do wheelies in front of cops or your girlfriend then of course it is going to smoke and you are going to get in trouble or tear something up. I have the auto and it just seems to go to high gear and idle around town. I get about 23 to 25 freeway and 18 around town. I dont drive it hard so have had no problems, however I do love the instant power if I do want to step on it. I have tried all the tunes and the 175 works best for me. I am sorry to say I dont have gagues, I am waiting for the Black Maxx. If you do step on it, it will smoke but clears right up unless you keep holding it down. I am a very satisfied XRT customer. :party018::lol4::party018:

Having the adjustibility will be a real cool feature for the H&S owners to have and less strain on the tranny. I too like to drive around with the high HP tunes because I like the throttle response. It seems that the 5-6 gears suck. Too bad they did not put the 48RE in these trucks!

Yeah makes it hard cuz i love the adjust ability of the Black Maxx but dont want it to come to the same fate as my PMT(stolen). But i dont really need 175 all the time. Probably just run 120 most of the time.

It's not the torque converter chattering, it's the clutches in the trans chattering. I just had a converter put in and the trans does the same thing. That was the dealer who wanted to do that.

When he drove it, he felt it so had the converter replaced for me.

Only way around it is to down shift the trans either manually or with your fuel peddle

Daily driving a 175 tune by any company without the supporting mods is going to cost you eventually, it is just a matter of when. It will be much faster than if you were running in a lower setting though.

I believe that, but I also think the vibration/shudder I feel is the Tq converter slipping and trying to lock up, Sun Coast mentioned that there converter should take care of that. I don't get it on the 90hp tune just 170hp. The dyno graphs of some trucks really show the poor TQ converter struggleing.
