My 96 has 180,xxx on it it's a 5 speed truck. A little over a week ago when you try to fire it up clutch pedal pushed in turn key and one loud click. Keeping key turned back I repressed the pedal and instant fire up. Now yesterday I try to fire it up and does the same thing. This time it sounded like the starter was stuck on when it fired up so I turn the key off but it still ran I cycled the key a couple times just to the on position and then it finally killed WTF?? it seem to only be doing it when cold I know the batteries are old. My wife drives it to work everyday so I don't have a lot of time to look at it in daylight any thoughts???

Starter contacts are worn, just replace them, it's easy. LarryB's Starting problems solved here
Don't buy a new starter.
