Stopped at the food store today. Got back in and the truck wont start. It cranks and cranks but wont start. The FASS pump runs for a long time after I stop turning the key. Any help much needed.

yea if your low on fuel, its possible you picked up some air from the tank. mine does it. do what hoffscummins said, crack a few lines loose to try and bleed the air out. if there is not any fuel coming out (where you cracked the lines) while your cranking, it could be a injection pump. if you are squirting fuel, tighten em back up and crank it over again. should fire up

First have you got the codes by doing the key thing, on and off 3 times. If not do that and let us know what the code is. My friends did the same thing and it was the inj. pump :(

Thanks for the info guys. I was parked on a slight hill and it was about an eigth tank in there. So I rolled it back onto level ground, put a few more gallons in it, and in the fuel filter canister, and she fired after a few more cranks, didnt have to crack any lines thankfully. At $4.25 a gallon passing on by the fuel pumps isnt too hard. Guess I shot myself in the foot with that one.

So was I. Spending $1200 is the last thing I need right now. Didnt think it would be though cause im always watchin the gauge. Just jumped in and it wouldnt start, the vp44 was the dark image lurking in the back of my head though.

:welcome:  With the cost of diesel it might be cheaper to replace the VP 44 :rof

Just a quick tip. Pulling air from a very low fuel tank into your fuel system, be it the VP44 or your fuel pump is VERY BAD and extra hard on the system. It's definitely worth the extra effort and $$ to keep your tank at a safe level. Good to hear you didn't lose the VP44.
