depends on what you are after....... mpg, go for the 04 truck, 305/ 555 motor. want to get a truck to go fast not as worried about mpg, 04.5 and up, watch for plastic intercooler tanks on 05's, and then in late 06/ 07 welcom canbus to the mix, making it a little harder on the programmers to get to the power.......... trying to go fast, hands down the 04.5, a bit older, lower price = money left to get goodies and go fast ! hit the lottery lately ? then go for a 6.7 and show us all what can be done !

Get an 06 or 07 5.9. I haven't seen anyone yet that doesn't love theirs.
i have had no problems w/ mine,,,besides the govenor solenoid,,easy fix by the dealer,,

get an 04.5 - 05. 325 horse motor and
a little newer interior. be sure and check
the front end out for wear and tear.
the 06 and up headlights look like the trucks
eyelids are taped to its forehead.

I didn't like the headlights when I first saw them... they've grown on me, and I actually prefer them now. They kick out more light too.

I hate to say it, but the 03-05's look "cheaper" to me, and I've decided it's because of the front end/headlights/etc. I know that sounds pompous and lame, it's just what pops into my head when I see them now

you're not going to notice a vast difference in mileage between any of them IMO... vehicle weight, height, tires, and driving style are going to play the biggest roles.

I had an early 04 6sp short bed w/ 4.10's and 35" Toyo MT's. I consistantly got 14mpg in it. (I drive agressively, not gonna lie)

my 06 Mega cab auto gets 16mpg driving the exact same way
