Being winter here in the great North it seems that anything that gets thrown at the windshield chips it. Snow seems to chip it LOL. Is it me or is the windshield glass really soft.

Glass is composed of numerous oxides that fuse and react together upon heating to form a glass.

Lime is added to improve the hardness and durability.

If it is chipping easily, could that indicate it's too brittle vs. too soft?

I noticed the same thing on my 2011. I couldn't believe how many pits it had within the first year. I talked to my dealer and they said it wouldn't be covered under warranty...

These windshields wont even hold up against walnuts..
