How does everyone remove the wind whistle from their trucks? Maybe you guys don’t have it, but my door seals seem to let a little noise in. Should I put a latex/silicone tube inside the seal and hope for the best?
Being 100% genuine....thank you for that. I’ll give it a try!I don’t have any at all. I would suggest making sure they are all in place and not damaged. The ones on the rear doors front side about window height are easilly dislodged from their groove they lock onto. Commonly dislodged while cleaning the door jambs. When dislodged they can rattle and sometimes whistle.
The only whistle I hear on the freeway is the turbo.
Nope. But I definetly have the wind whistleDo you happen to have an aftermarket antenna? This is hard to believe, but I had a whistle up until I removed the shorter aftermarket antenna I installed.
What he said ^^^^. Push your recirculation twice to turn it off and see if the whistle goes away. If so then it's the seal around the heater box or something like that.Look in the nonpowertrain section. I had a whistle turned out to be the heater box. Replaced under warranty.
Check the body lines at the top of the doors. The 3rd gen truck ALL had wind issues with the way the front doors were made around the windows. Both my 3rd gens had to have the top of the doors "tweaked" (bent by a body shop goon) until the doors pressed against the door seals tighter. If you take your finger tips and pull the top of door tighter to the body as best you can while driving does the whistle change?Nope. But I definetly have the wind whistle
Thanks for the tip, but I hear it coming from 3 of the 4 doorsLook in the nonpowertrain section. I had a whistle turned out to be the heater box. Replaced under warranty.
Pretty sure it is door seals, but I will keep this in my mind for sure! What he said ^^^^. Push your recirculation twice to turn it off and see if the whistle goes away. If so then it's the seal around the heater box or something like that.

Another excellent idea. I’m totally going to look into all of theseTry taking some blue painters tape (comes off easy without glue residue) and tape some of the door seals (on the outside) just to try and narrow down the section(s) where the whistle is coming from. Once you know where it's coming from, then you can try and address how to actually fix it.

I had the dealer re-align the doors and make them a tighter seal. No more wind noise. It's nice and quiet in the cab.How does everyone remove the wind whistle from their trucks? I intend to, but I love a good challenge so part of me wants to figure it out just to say I can. That make sense? Is this the 2018 in your signature? If so take it in it is covered under warranty. Make them find and fix the problem.
Except that I can hear it right by my ear driver side towards the top back of the door. The other noises it could very well be!I would have bet mine was around the door also. It wasn't it was the heater box.
Sorry just pardon my stupidity. Where do I apply the painter tape? IE from paint to paint, just on the “bulge” of the seal etc....Little more detail would be great for a first timer like me!I have also read posts about the wind noise ending up coming from the mirrors. Same debugging as above, blue painters tape quickly will eliminate possible causes.
