Will a 1st gen head fit on a 2ed gen block?

Just curious, will a first gen head fit on a second gen block? If it does fit, are there any disadvantages?

it will fit, has different size injector holes depending on year and are prone to cracking.
If I remember right, the exhaust ports are a different shape from 12 to 24 valve, and a disadvantage will be having fewer valves.

First gens are 12 valves.
First gens are 12 valves.

2nd gens are too!:rof

up to 98.5 but you knew that.
you have to cut a notch in the head for the ofv on the ppump.intercooled first gens have the right size injector hole non intercooled do not.

You have to do that on some '94-'98 2nd gens too.
Pretty sure the injector angle and piston tops are different between the 1st and 2nd gens.
I'd try to find a 2nd gen head instead.
From the responses, the only drawback is the injector hole size, which leads makes it prone to cracking. So using one is a bit of a crapshoot, it can last forever or fail at the injector holes. Sort of like the 53 block cracking issue.
You will have either a 7mm or 9mm injector hole size. With the 9mm heads you are almost guarenteed to look at the bridge between the valves and its going to be cracked across. I would recommend having the head cleaned and checked for cracks
Baja i was wondering how your truck turns in 4x4,in your sig you have frount locker or limeted slip, not sure witch.

I have a limited slip, or posi-traction, whatever you want to call it in the front. I arranged the clutches to be aggressive, so it locks up quickly. In 4x4 mode, it works well, turning is OK. It is a bit of a battleship to maneuver, the regular cab helps. I did not put in a front locker because of turning issues, especially in mud, snow or ice. In sand or soft dirt, I can feel the front end wander a bit as the wheels search for traction. The truck goes almost anywhere I care to point it.
i have ford d60 hub conversion and posilock axel dissconect i think i could unlock the posilock to get around a tight corner and one wheel still pull.
