I've always heard good things about Mobile 1. I thought I'd give it a try in my wifes 07 Toyota corolla. I ran the Castrol semi synthetic through the car, changing the oil every 3 thousand miles until it hit the 24,000 mile mark. I bought the 5w-30 mobile 1 and added that with a new toyota oil filter. She drove the car 2,500 miles on that oil then I checked the oil level, it was a quart low. Now the car only takes 4 1/4 quarts to fill it up. I added a whole quart. At the 5,000 mile mark it was another quart low. I've had the car inspected, and no oil leaks. It consumes the Mobile 1 like crazy. I'll be going back to the Castrol semi or full synthetic where it didn't go through oil. I won't be buying Mobile 1 anytime soon. I'm a castrol fan, my Chevy work truck has 253,000 miles on the 4.3 with Castrol dino oil every 3 grand or so.

Mobil 1 synthetic is thin and thus you would consume more. youll consume the same amount of castrol sythetic of the same rate also.

for me i think ill stick w M1 just bc of the cost diff between that and amsoil

i am an amsoil fan/dealer and what not love the stuff but unless im going to spend the $25 to have it tested and stuff it just seems easier for me to go to oreillys and pick up some M1 and use that.

while yes i know that shipping in included in the off the shelf price at oriellys with the amsoil having to pay tax and shipping just makes it to much.

ill try and put the numbers to it and c what an exact number is.........

wow glad i clicked on this one. i have used M1 TDT and thought i was getting full syn.........like yall said i have used it for many yrs. i didnt know about this recent down fall for M1

so its not a FULL SYN? i have used amsoil also .........so amsoil and RP are the only full syns out there?

yes amsoil and rp are the only true full synthetics as of now.

Penzoil Platinum is a really good synthetic also.

i'd rather walk than use penzoil.

I am not a Mobile 1 fan myself. I find my engines run louder and seem to whine more on mobile 1. ill take Quaker State over M1 any day.

Mobil Delvac 1 in mine since new. I've used Mobil 1 in everything for about 10 years, never had a problem.
