I have a 95 ctd with #5 plate hx40 and
4" exhaust with single stack. The problem I am having is in the mornings the truck starts and if i let it warm up it will miss and white smoke in for a bit. Then i was driving it the other day and going doun the road bout 60 then let off the pedal a bit to almost a coast but not quite, it white smokes a good bit. But if I let off the pedal all the way it stops or if I give it more pedal it stops. The truck also white smokes if i have it in neutral and raise the rpms up fast to bout 21-2500 it black smokes for a split second then white again and it sounds like its missing. Whats the problem causer? Fuel lines, timing, what the heck is it? Fuel pressure is always good.
Thanks Tim:CRY:

I'd agree sounds like either air in the lines or timing. I personally would check timing first, its more expensive but you can verify it quickly as appossed to chasing an air leak for a long time. You could even bump the timing a little

You might be able to pressurize the system with 10psi of shop air to the filler neck and check for leaks with bubbles
