i've got a pre march 09 6.7. I'm looking to do an exhaust and programmer. Which programmer should I get? just looking for a little extra power, smoke, and no problems. Also, is a 5 inch exhaust worth it, or just for sound until u get into big horsepower? Should i leave the cat on or off? do these things need the back pressure?

Well if your wanting to blow smoke, you should get rid of the DPF and the CAT. Get an EDGE Juice, XRT, Smarty. :thumbsup:You can get your smoke and add some power and econ.
You don't have to have the 5'' exhaust but it sure dose sound good and look good. 4'' will be good up to 500hp any more than that and you will need 5''.there are alot of guy's going with the 5'' that are not pushing 500hp including me. 5'' sounds so good!

If you want smoke, smarty is not for you. You will be better off with the xrt.... Call james at rollinsmokediesel.com and he can hook you up with a exhaust and a programer.

If you cant make it fast, make it smoke :hehe:

A Smarty Jr will give you more power and the ability to loose the DPF/EGR with no codes but it won't be very smoky. An XRT will definitely add the smoke and the ability to have even more power.

so the smartys are better for not having code issues than the xrts? what kinda codes are the xrts throwing, anything serious? sorry, i don't know squat about any of this.

Ya i would think your best bet to start with is a smarty jun or sen, and it prevents the codes from the dpf/egr bypass i believe

In general, both tuners are both pretty code free but may set the occasional ghost code. When this occurs, the code can generally be cleared but you may have to reload the tune to have it go away - this is the exception rather than the rule...

The XRT has BIG tunes and more smoke. The Smarty s67 has BIG tunes and less smoke but more rattle. The smarty jr has smaller tunes and still less smoke. They are all GREAT tuners!!

I just uploaded my xrt last night and my OHD went from 11.9 to 19.5 on about a 4 mile test run in town. Neither the xrt or Smarty throw many codes and if they do it's an easy fix. Edge JWA will smoke like a Mofo from my understanding, but remember smoke is unburnt fuel and unburnt fuel is wasted fuel. My xrt only smokes on WOT, but I'm only running the 60hp tune to be gentle on the Tranny. Smarty/Jr will get you the cleanest tunes and offers torque management so you can run a higher tune and save your tranny by dropping the torque. The xrt seems to have done a better job addressing the "catalyst full" problem popping up on the OHD that some owners have run into. If you can't afford to buy the exhaust right away, but still want a tuner then get the Smarty/Jr 'cause they will work with the stock exhaust or aftermarket; it's just an online software change from S67 to 67me. Have fun, I know it's a tough choice when both products offer so much!

I'd disagree slightly with the smoke statement above. The Edge Juice w/Attitude produces a light haze on level 6. The Edge Race is another story, it's fairly smokey on the higher tunes. The XRT, on the 120 and especially 175 tunes are smokey SOB's. The Smarty, excluding the TNT, is darn near smokeless.

Im not saying your wrong.:confused013: But from the Video I've seen on youtube the smarty smokes pretty good. The Edge race smoke alot and I have only seen one Vid with the XRT and that thing blows some coal. Iam going to get the XRT not for the smoke but for the code clearing and the power...

The video you saw may have been someone with the TNT tune, which does smoke a lot.

I can barely get a haze on SW8 with an AirDog150 and Industrial Injection CP3, so I'm supplying enough fuel.

I have the XRT on 60, it smoked in the beginning during WOT. When I added some cetane booster the smoke became just a haze. When I put on the new Shibby intake with a waste gate the smoke disappeared altogether. More air, less back pressure, no smoke. So I get the instantaneous power of the XRT and no smoke.
