Took the train horns off of my 08 before I traded it off and want to install on the 12 and was wondering if I could use the keyed hot of one of the accessory outlets for my on/off switch?

If not what is everybody using?
On my 08 I T-Tapped a pink for the hot by the brake pedal

thanks

I tapped into the rear 12v plug on my center stack for my air ride gauges. If it's not enough amps than a relay under the hood hooked to your battery would be the best. Just use the keyed 12v plug to power your switch. You could also tie right into the horn on the front of the truck.

I ran a circuit right from the battery tot he input of a 30 amp relay (terminal #30) and then used the acc socket power to operate a relay to turn the power on (terminal #85, ground terminal #86). This way, no extra load running through the TIP module. (TIPM) Output power from the relay to your compressor or horns will be terminal #87. If you use that circuit to run the compressor, you need another one to run ther air valve to the horns.

How I had it hooked up on my 08 was I had a 10G 30A feed from the battery to the pressure switch (power source) the compressor power source connected to the pressure switch as well then I need a keyed/ignition wire to trigger the pressure switch which I was thinking of T-Tapping the 12v power outlet on the dash and running it thru a toggle switch so I can have it on/off when I want
then run power from first toggle to a second and use that one to air solenoid for horn activation

That seemed to work for the 08 and was wondering if I could use the 12v acc outlet to power my switches

What did you come up with? For all of my electrical accessories, I just use a good test light and find the proper fuse in the box. Then use the fuse adapter and put the proper size in for what I am using. You could do this to power your relay and to your switch.

Get your power right from the battery with the proper sized fuse right near the power source (as close to the battery as possible) and then run it to your horn/compressor, via a relay. Have your ACC socket/lighter (keyed one) run the relay. So it stops with the key off, but the power comes directly from the battery. I didnt run my compressor power through the pressure switch on the tank, I had it just control a relay which turned the compressor on/off.

This method avoids adding any extra load through the TIP module on these trucks. (totally integrated power module) and in some cases, after 5 overloads, the module just shuts off (commits suicide)

Plenty on here, notice the dual socket, there is your 2 relays all in one connector. Plus pick up a few relays. I bought a dozen of these from Amazon, relays with connectors.
