wheel question

im only asking because i dont have a 16.5 inch wheel to mount up to see if it will clear.

WILL A 16.5" WHEEL FIT 3RD GENS?

I LOOKED AT MYY TRUCK AND LOKKS AS IF THEYD FIT IN THE REAR BUT NOT QUITE SURE ABOUT THE FRONT. WOULD NEED A WHEEL TO PUT ON JUST TO SEE..

has anyone done this or tried?

17s are stock so I would think 16.5s will... Although I have never heard of anybody doing a 16.5 tire. I am not in the tire department though :confused013:
only reason i ask is because you can get the newer military steel belted mud terrains are pretty cheap. they are 37x12.5x16.5

That is interesting, did not know that thanks! With it only being .5" smaller(or .25" all around) you should not have a problem clearing the brakes.
Some aftermarket 17" wheels don't clear the calipers on 3rd gens. I highly doubt 16.5's will clear.
well i looked at mine and its about 3/8" from the caliper on the front and 1/2" from the caliper on the rear. i think theyd fit the rear but not so sure about the front

Really? Honestly I haven't had 17s on in forever to really remember but I could have sworn there was about 2-3" of room.

Just go ahead and pull off one tire and test fit that rim for us. I am interested to see how it goes!
If you're thinking about putting the hmmwv wheels on, I'm sure they'd fit since steel wheels are considerably thinner material than the cast aluminums. If you're putting an aftermarket one, I'd definitely reccomend measuring or fitting it prior to buying. Let us know if it works, and especially where you are getting hooked up with the tires :)

i have found the tires on craigslit for around 500 or so with 75%-90% tread left on them. will try and get ahold of a 16.5 and let you fellas know if it works out. and im thinking the same about steel wheels cause they would be a little thinner than alloys.... ill keep yall updated
Had a guy try to fit 16.5's and they won't fit.
here are those tires i was wanting to run... they are on craigslist might have to copy and paste link

37" Mud Tires Goodyear Wrangler MT
