This is my truck with the mentioned setup. I have a few other videos as well, hope it gives you a better idea.So far I like the drilled out cat setup I'm running. At some point a second gen swap and 5 inch exhaust will be in this particular truck. Cant wait to hear that sound.

I forgot to mention compounds. I'll be relying on that second turbine and housing to kill a lot of sound. But thanks for the vid!

I bet it sounds great. Axle dumps as re awesome. I feel like some 4" systems are louder than 5" especially if its stainless. Just my thought. Maybe someone else could chime in.I forgot to mention compounds. I'll be relying on that second turbine and housing to kill a lot of sound. But thanks for the vid!

Yep my sons truck with compounds ( 5" straight piped , axle dump ) IS rather quiet . Considering.
Good bit of turbo whine ,, gotta tell you when that first whistle starts blending into the second whistle,, one best hang on .
That did not sound near as obnoxious as I thought. I have a 5" but it has a giant muffler on it. I will not tolerate any drone. I pull too much for thatThis is my truck with the mentioned setup. I have a few other videos as well, hope it gives you a better idea.

Weight is like a damn megaphone to these things. Second gen swap kills a good bit of the drone and raspy tendencies. Properly spacing the exhaust ports really helps clean up the sound incredibly. That did not sound near as obnoxious as I thought. I have a 5" but it has a giant muffler on it. I will not tolerate any drone. I pull too much for that
Yeah, the videos dont do it justice. I would not recommend this setup for someone who pulls often. It drones to the point of the rear view mirror vibrating extremely. That did not sound near as obnoxious as I thought. I have a 5" but it has a giant muffler on it. I will not tolerate any drone. The same thing happened to my 2003. On the wy back from the store in the middle of the night. I hit a bump and my truck got extremely loud, setting off car alarms too. Finally, i heard the scrapping when i rolled to a stop sign. Funny.mhm favorite exhaust set up? Well my favorite was when my 4" tbe basically fell apart under the cab, it basically broke right under the passenger seat. I extended it about 14-18" an put the tip back on 4x7 by 18" long. I used some metal I found to make brackets to strap the pipe up to the cab. Drove it this way for about 2000miles. (Everyone called it the hater pipe).
When it broke apart I was around 3:45 in the morning, was on my way duck hunting I hit a bump doing around 65mph, Trucks tone change drastically. Luckily I had to get fuel so I swang into the shell station. Second I hit the entrance the all you can hear was metal scrapping. We ended up buying a bunch of gloves from the store an yanked it off. Through it in the mud boat an went on our way. I had to drive to an from the shell station to the boat launch and back hoem with the down pipe strapped to the frame of the truck. That was horribly loud. One of my fond memories with the 05
I've owned 2 3rd gen trucks. One of them was passed down to me, bought brand new in 05, that truck was never tuned an still isn't so no added power. I removed the muffler 1st and about 3 weeks later I removed the cat. I noticed no difference in the way the truck ran or performed. That truck still tows 5-8k daily an sometimes more if im hooked to my dump trailer w/ bobcat trucks been straight piped for 4 years now. The 2nd truck I straight piped that truck about 4 days after ownership 2 years of no cat/muffler an no issues with power, I tuned it an it quieted it down some. Traded that truck in last year for a 6.7, Can't wait to delete it to get that nice rumble back. What do you guys think, does removing the cat really affects bottom end power? I’ve been on the fence about it for a while. Thanks
My buddy an I looked like a pit crew yanking the pipe out an strapping the down pipe to the frame. Jumped back on the highway, It was cold out that morning an the air gets super thin out around the cane fields. I think everyone heard the truck about 2 towns over lolThe same thing happened to my 2003. On the wy back from the store in the middle of the night.
