im looking to buy a dodge diesel and i was wondering is there any years that were better than others?

03 - 04 5.9 you will get better fuel mileage, a little harder to get more power
04.5 - 07 5.9 HO decent fuel mileage, you can get more power out easier
07+ 6.7 not very good fuel mileage, a little harder to get more power out of because of emissions

there all good, TTR pretty much nailed it though. in 06 they changed the seat config. which many people including myself hate.

Is there a way you can tell you hve a 5.9 HO in 2004?
What makes the difference between 03-04 to the 04.5-07?
When did they start putting the g56 transmission behind the 5.9s?

the g56 came in at the end of 05,
5.9 ho will have a tag right on the valve cover stating it. Also, not positive but if the build date is 04.5, you will have a ho

not positive I think the 03-04 have the fuel pump on the driver side of the motor vs in the tank

IMO 05 an thats not just cause i have 2 of them it just i have had 9 cummins an the 2 05's that i have i have never had any problems with at all.....they have been very good trucks....an i like the headlights on the 03-05 better than the newer ones an i think the seats are more cozy......

id say an 06, i had an 05 6 speed that was 2wd at one time and it was a fun truck. my 06 just has more "creature comforts" i guess you could say. imo 06

ive been looking at an 05 2500 6 speed for $19K and has 91,000 miles is that a bad deal?

I like the interior of the 06+ a lot more and the 07+ have the ugly tail lights so I say 06 is the best

thats not to bad... friend of mine bought a 05 with 100000 miles for 17k is it was auto 4x4 slt......

Why wouldn't you want the G56 it's the best manual trans Dodge ever used.

I think the 06 model is the best. I hate my grey cloth though. If I can't sell it I'll change that.

I personally would rather have a 2nd gen....than a 3rd gen if your wantin to make a powerhouse. but if you want streetability and style i would go 05 or 06. I like the different seats and headlights on the 06's

2nd gen 12v or 24v....... common rails are making way more power than a vp truck.....

04.5 - 05 model. 325 horse motor and your truck doesnt
look like its eyelids are taped to its forehead like the 06 +'s
headlights.

I know the Common Rail makes more..but i like the cheapness of the upgrades to the 24v. vp trucks rather than having to spend thousands and thousands just to get 500+ Reliable HP. Everything is cheaper on the 24v 2nd gens.
