ok I know the fuel economy subject has been beaten to death, but my question is this:

If I was to unplug say 3 of my injectors what would happen?

un-used fuel is returned to the tank by the CP3 already, so if an injector isnt opening, wouldnt that fuel just be returned to?

I realize that the power loss would be substantial, but if all that power isnt needed when just cruising, I think the benefits (MPG) would outweigh the power loss.

I don't think the truck would operate without setting large numbers of codes and may not run at all.

best thing I've found for fuel economy was slowing down. If I run 2100 rpm at 70mph I get around 15. If I slow to 65mph I get 23, so now I go 65.

first the engine would run hella rough. . .next you would set about 10-15 codes. Afterwards if you were able to get her to move, it would be more of a strain on those cylinders and you would risk burning a hole up.

last. if you look at the injector harness it is connected in groups of 2. you unplug the first connector you drop the first two cylinders and so on.

bummer....thought I might have had a good idea....I already drive less than 65, if I keep it at 55-60 I will get over 20, that is on state highways, have yet to take a long trip on a expressway yet to see what she will do at those lower speeds, but on the last trip I took at 68 I got 19.5 in Feb, so if I drop to 63-65 on summer blend, it should go up substantially....guess I will find out in a few weeks when I go to indy for the nationals

just to let you know. . .I had my smarty loaded w/4.11 software #2 and my TST on 2/1 standard program for a 650 mile round trip and averaged 18.2mpg running 70-75mph. and that was hand calculated. Ive got a 6spd manual, 4.10's and 315's. ran 2100-2200rpm pretty much the whole way.
