48re is made by Chrysler, I don't think they go outside of house to build. Really it is not as bad as people say it is. Mine has help up fine with current stack for about the last 10,000 miles. It is a four speed automatic transmission with a lock up torque converter.
I will agree from a Physical Component standpoint, but they removed some adjustability with the brain.....

47RE's are still my favorite for matching the trans build to the owners needs..... Nice thing is that the 48RE Planets and such all fit nicely inside the 47RE:thumbsup
