Looking at getting a 5th wheel toy hauler (12.5K GVWR) and wondering what extended RPM range is good for the ol' Cummins.

Can I tow in OD on flats? At 65mph, in OD, my RPMs are about 17-1800. Is that a good RPM if I tow in OD? At 55mph with OD off, I'm about 2200.

Also, what speeds do you guys tow at on the open road?

Thanks very much, Mike.

These Dodge tranny's must be crap then because my Powerstroke would tow my 18k 43 foot toyhauler forever in OD. I towed it across the country from AZ to FL 4 times in OD. Makes me wonder if the Dodge is going to be able to pull it after hearing that.

Thanks for the replies. If I don't tow in OD, what would be the max sustained RPMs to tow at?
