ok so i tried doing a search but im not computer smart, how can i tell what motor an 04 has in it??

take a look at the plastic valve cover, theres a sticker on it that should say on there.

I would think that it has a 5.9 common rail in it.

ok so its like 2 am here in iraq, and i guess i didnt make the question out right.. how do i tell if it has the 555tq or 600tq engine in it? can i tell by the vin or what?

The VIN will say. its the 9th character from the left. it will be a '6' or 'C'

The tag should show a horsepower rating of 315. If it does not you most likely have a 2004.5 Dodge Cummins 5.9L Diesel.

you should be able to tell by the settings sticker on the side of the valve cover too.

Mine says 325 advertised Hp.It doesn't tell what torque.I think its a 600 series.Also I thought it said Jan '04 Would it be considered a 2004.5?Btw Hi every body.:lol3:

sounds like a 04.5 to me. my early o4 is 305hp. that is the HO motor.

Changeover for the 305 to 325HP was Christmas vacation in December 2003. If its an 04 model built from July 03 to December 03 its a 305/555. If its an 04 built from Jan 04 to July 04 then its an 04.5 325/600

Which VIN # constitutes the H.O. motor, the 6 or the C? I'm looking to pick up an '04 and its 8th # is a 6.
