while pulling my vp44 i unpluged the cord that went into the underside of the throttle assembly. this is what it looked like and im pretty sure i broke the cap off on one end.

looks like a noise isolator for the APPS, installed rather shattily......

so what exactly does that do?

supposed to help with converter locking and unlocking problems. I've never seen it do much good especially wired like that :thud:

hmmm, if i pull it should i change any wiring, replace it and solder it all down? in what way does this change how the TC locks?

the thought is that if you' have a crappy APPS there are intermittent voltage spikes that may cause the computer to think you've momentarily applied the throttle really hard, which in turn unlocks the TC and gets ready for a downshift. It happens so fast though that usually it'll only unlock, then relock the converter. I'm fairly sure thats a large capacitor, aimed at limiting the voltage spikes that could occur.

If it's a problem, buy a Timbo APPS and be done with it don't bastardize the whole apps harness with a bandaid
