I'm going to replace my water pump and do a coolant flush here soon, and I'm curious what would be the best coolant to run. Would I be better off to just keep running the green IAT I'm running or would it be better to switch to OAT or HOAT for the sake of longevity? Or is it just a matter of preference on our years?

Preference.

I run HOAT spec in mine (Zerex G-05) but only because its what was in my other vehicles and I don't want 3 different kinds of coolant on my shelves.

Awesome, thanks. I'll just have to go see the prices of them and go from there

I stick with standard green or yellow. Because the yellow is Prestone/WalMart (Universal) or Green NAPA. Both work just as well in the freezing temps of Idaho and very common to get. Orange (HOAT) is hard to get and most places up here don't stock it HOAT.

Make sure to completely flush everything out. Heater core, block, radiator if you mix green and orange you'll have a new problem.

I run green stuff because it's cheap, and I've had to change my coolant so often already because of stupid little things...

like last spring it was the water pump, summer it was the heater hoses, late summer/early fall it was the heater core, and as of last night its the damn radiator hoses (upper burst open...ugh. but I knew it was coming...just didn't feel like fixing it yet and been tossing around the idea of blue hoses for replacements to match the intercooler boots) time for new ones! means more f'ing coolant cause it's all coming out again... I have to have the cleanest cooling system ever being changed like 5 times it seems in 10k miles or less :hehe:

With coolant that new I pour it out then pour it back in. I see no reason to exchange very good fluids.

Alright guys, thanks a lot. I'll just stick with the green since its cheap and the more expensive stuff doesn't seem to provide any improvement
