I'm having a weird thumping/fluttering noise coming straight from the air filter it's pretty noticeable from the cab of the truck. I really don't have any clue what it could be. I just got doing a valve lash adjustment on it if that helps. Oil color is really clear. So I dunno. Truck has over 200xxxmiles on it. Possibly turbo issues?

Most likely nothing wrong... :confused013:

If your worried about it though I would double check the valve lash settings again and do a compression check to verify the cylinder health. Because if there is any valve or cylinder damage it will show up on a compression test.

Thanks Moparman. I followed everything on your site to do it. I double checked everything when I got done with each valve. Hopefully it's nothing.

So I checked everything. I also went out and got a bhaf and nothing. I posted up a video on YouTube on the noise it's making. Here is the hyperlink:

Tomorrow I plan on taking off the compressor housing to clean that up since it was pretty nasty.

Did you figure out the noise from the intake? I just rebuild my engine, got it running last week and I have the same noise. I am wondering if its in the valves? I'm going to readjust them. It's a deep thumping sound. This is on a 1999 24v.

I heard that noise when I opened up my air box while the truck was running. It went away when I closed it back up.

Yup I agree with the above I adjusted my valves just a hair to tight one time and it made the same sound you are describing

Mine started doing that after I got a S&B intake. Resonating noise from it is what I figured on mine

I noticed the same sound after getting the s&b just like wyodiesel92 mentioned. I'm pretty sure it's nothing to worry about.

Mine did that twice. My wife heard it once. It was when I put my foot into it and then let off quickly. Once towing my trailer and once when I wasn't.
