Dodge auto trannys are the weakest in the big three.... chevys auto are the best.... Buying an auto truck is just silly, but thinking a dodge auto is any good is just ignorant.ha, thats a good one. I had a few friends who always said that dodge tranny's were weak. They couldn't tell me where they heard that from (probably from a 15 year old conversation with their die hard chevy family) or have any proof of it. But trying to compare a manual to an auto is what really brings out the weak transmissions, if an auto made it 900k miles that would be amazing.
And its comment like these that the term "Open mouth and insert foot come to play". I have 176,000 miles of absolutely trouble free service from my 48RE.Dodge auto trannys are the weakest in the big three.... chevys auto are the best.... You are right about Dodge trannys being weak, my NV4500 tranny required 3 clutches and 2 backup light switches in the first 900,000 miles.

true...you got me there. my stock 48re had held up great though only built it cause i finally had the means.A built 48re isn't really a dodge transmission though.
BINGO! :rofSort of like comparing a duramax to a cummins but saying the cummins sucks because of the weak front end.
