my water in fuel light come on this morning twice right after start up and went off after 5 mins. the last time i cranked it up at lunch i never came on. is this normal or could it be a hoax?

not yet. i never ran into this. where is the drain. the truck is a 00' by the way.

Yellow tab on the front of the fuel filter canister.

Get a glass jar to catch it......the fuel and water will separate , so you'll know if you have a problem..:thumbsup

thanks good idea too. i have seen the yellow tab. whats bad is that i'm highly alergic to diesel. kind of dumb huh?

my hands swell up and my fingers start looking like bratwurst and start bleeding. i can get it on me as long as i wash it right off. i discovered this while cleaning a trans with my dad about 10 yrs ago. i was burnt so bad. dad thought i was joking until i showed him. i guess i'm a panzie.lol

Man that is a bummer. Well I would either wear some gloves or have someone else do it. You should not get any on you since the switch is above the drain tube but just to be safe I guess....
