Watch the dealers work

I know there have been previous threads regarding this subject but I almost got burned.

I buy 3 oil changes, tire rotations, inspection, and truck wash for $195. I know my truck and the front rims always get dirtier than the rear rims due to braking. I just got back from a trip to Moab and the front rims were especially dirty.

Anyways, I get my truck serviced this morning and the dealership didn't rotate the tires. I know from looking at the dirty rims. Someone just tried to wipe the rims clean when they washed the truck.

I got burned. It makes me question whether or not another work was done such as fuel filters, differential, and transfer case.

It sucks you can't trust peoples work these days epecially at a dealership.

Did you go make them rotate them like you paid for?
tip: put some marks on either both front or both rear tires before you take it in...

Well you should be able to trust them...but I do it all in the driveway :confused013:
My dad.....6.7 powerstroke guy had to start marking his own oil filters, because 2 instances they drained the oil, added new and didn't change the filter.

I did. I didn't notice they weren't noticed until about an hour later. Lucky for me I was across the street at Costco.

The service writer called the tech and asked if the tires were rotated. The answer I got was "he believed he did".

They got rotated as I paid for. From now on I'll put a little mark on the front tires as another person said.

Good point. I'm gonna start marking the filters and even the differential drain plugs to make sure the work is actually done.

It's frustrating that we even have to talk about this and that people don't take pride in their work.

Always good practice if you're taking it anywhere.

I also put the mileage and date on the filters when possible for my own reference.

Because it's SOOO hard to remember if you swapped around 4 or 5 relatively heavy wheels/tires :hehe:
to play devil's advocate, winter is coming and perhaps your tires with the most tread were already on the rear?

sometimes you can't win with customers. you get some wanting the tires rotated regardless of how they are wearing, and some will complain and say they didn't want them rotated for whatever reason (just had them done elsewhere, winters just put on, best tread already on front or rear, etc) and this always comes up after the vehicle has already left the shop

however it sounds like your tech was lazy seeing as he tried to b.s. that he rotated em
It is a shame that sloppy work done is becoming the norm. Most places only care about volume, not quality. Not all, but more & more just don't care. I also know some cannot, or do not want to do their own maintenance. Like the old saying, burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, shame on ME. And to those sloppy techs, what goes around, comes around.
