I'm asuming your clutch is still stock so unless you wana buy a new clutch shortly after getting an edge comp or something simular id stick with just a timing programmer that doesn't tap the fuel pump wire.
But if your planning to upgrade clutch, I like my Quad Adrenaline but have also heard good things about the edge comp too..do some reseach and that should help some more..

If your truck is stock then a superchips fp works great or a quad xzt+. Heard from alot of people that the quadzilla xzt+ is the best bang for the buck. But if your looking for serious power, the edge comp is awesome.

I sure like my Smarty for low end grunt, it sure made a big difference towing; but I also don't want to tap the pump (not yet anyway). The Smarty is really only good for like 65hp on its own, but it seemed like it was a pretty safe level for what I was looking for.

smarty would be good..that and you have a dtc reader. i run mine on 3 daily driver and no problems...but to do it right get gauges first or a lift pump. if i could have done it over i would have killed 2 birds with 1 stone and got a quad adr instead of 400 on gauges and 600 for a smarty you can get a quad with the same for basically 600ish i believe

IN THE LONG RUN!! I have a 4k box and dont regret. I tryed a juice hot unlock on my truck and dang was it slow compared to my quadzilla 4k.. The custom tunning is where its at..I can have my truck be so raspy its insane!!
Just look at my video and you see as soon as I tapp the pedal it rasp and echoes..
it was -20 so less smoke again..

That thing sounds like it is struggling to run, the timing must be out to lunch or something as well. Raspy my arse, lol, sounds like it is missing, sputtering, and choking. A well tuned engine sounds nothing like that, neither does one with power.
