I bought my 07 6.7 about a month ago. My change oil warning light came on at 1200 miles. My check engine light came on at 2500 miles and service 4WD light came on. I went to the dealership to check this out. Of course, the 4WD light went off. They told me the Turbo went out. WTF. They ordered a new one. I need to wait about 2 weeks before it comes in. I can not believe this. They also told me that I need to use the exhaust brake all the time. I this true and normal? Please help. Does anyone know of a TSB code I need to tell the dealer?:$:

This is all true info. Some of the trucks have had turbo issues. the Oil light usually comes on early. Make sure they update you to the latest flash (ax or AU) i dont remember. Seems like the more you use the E-brake the better. Good luck and hope they fix it right the first time.

I'd love to know what they would tell us if these didn't come with an engine brake?

Like using the engine brake is going to eliminate the soot issues. Give me a break.

With that said, I do believe they will get it fixed. There are simply too many trucks affected for them not to get a handle on it.

The ebrake doesn't eliminate soot it just wipe's it off the sliding portion of the slide nozzle in the turbo before it builds up to the point the slide nozzle sticks and cause the P2whatever code.

I spoke with a Cummins engineer who was at my dealership for the day. He stated they are no longer suggesting the use of the EB full time. He stated it was a theory that proved ineffective in keeping the turbo working.

They have been working on a modification that will allow easy cleaning of the turbo without removal.

They ordered me a new turbo. I should get it next week. Let me ask you this. Has anyone ever get the Service 4WD light. It comes and goes. What does this mean?

If you bought the 07 a month ago Im assuming that it was used. Hopefully the person who had it before didnt get rid of it for these issues you're talking about. Good luck

My mechanic laughed like hell when the dealer got their "package" on Monday. Drill a hole in the turbo and get a long tube to stick into the hole and pour some cleaning solution into the turbo. Put a bandaid on a 10 inch cut :D

My truck was brand new. It had only 11 miles on it when I bought it.

Okay, sorry then. My first cummins (95) had some issues and it took them 6 months give or take a few to get rid of the bugs. Though as I say nowdays, "It is was it is". Good luck again

Well, my 2008 mega, I can tell it's in regen by the NASTY smell of the engine and exhaust. And if you drive around with the Instant fuel econ on your overhead you will see it drop from 15mpg to 12 or so. Then it will go back up.
Takes a while to go back up, but the down switch is quick.

Make sure you use some kind of additive. It helps clean the soot.
I find that REDLINE Diesel Fuel Catlyst works the best for me. 2mpg hand calc increase. And when I used it in my Duramax with the OLD diesel fuel not the ULSD, I noticed that it didn't smoke as much. So I know it helps out.
