Vibration woes...

Over the past few weekends I have been trying to diagnose a vibration I have in my truck...

The shake started after I installed an RCX 5" lift and 37" cooper st maxx's. At first I thought my tires were balanced incorrectly as I had an extremely hard time finding a place willing to attempt to mount them. The vibration is not severe and it is not DW. Its more of a bounce felt thought the whole truck. I don't feel it in the steering wheel and I don't really feel anything that has the same rhythm in the 4x4 lever (but I do feel it move as I use the skinny pedal and hit bumps). It really only noticeably shakes at speeds greater that 60mph, the shake is not constant, and does not seem to have any particular cause at it comes and goes for various amounts of time and intensity.

I have worked through everything up front, bushings, bearings, ball joints, track bar, pitman arm... THE WORKS

I now have to start looking at the rear. Today I jacked the rear up and ran some tests at various speeds up to 90. I get a SLIGHT shake similar to what I feel on the road at various speeds 60-90mph both accelerating and decelerating. I also did notice that the tired are not perfectly true to rotation, but im going to assume that's normal and I would feel that shake all the time and would get much worse as speed increased. I have not really shaken anything under the truck as of late because I park outside in the snow on dirt... yada yada its cold!

Does anybody thinks its worth my while to pull the drive shaft and replace the joints?

When you lifted the truck you effectively shortened the rear drive shaft. You might look at the transfer case slip yoke (or transmission, your sig isn't filled out.) and see if there is any up and down movement when the drive train isn't under load - meaning wheels chocked and trans in neutral.
If you have a carrier bearing in the middle of the drive shaft, check the slip yoke right behind it for too much movement also. The center and rear u-joints are the most problematic, the center one locks up and the rear loosens.
Im not sure why my sig is not showing up, I have it filled out in my profile and have had it filled for quite some time.

But to answer your question, I don't have a carrier bearing, or at least I don't think so? I have a 2007 (5.9l) qcsb, I really haven't spent much time under the back haha, and I really don't at the moment because I would have to lay in ice and slush.....

But I will try to remove and inspect the rear d shaft tomorrow. :banghead: stupid snow/ice/slush... I never should have left FLORIDA to move to VERMONT!?
So I crawled under the truck this morning, there was a slight amount of play on the output shaft. Not really a large mount of play (~1/16") but when I shove up and down on the shaft I hear a little clunk.

I also saw a small amount of what looked like fluid coming out around the output shaft.

Im going to take it on a 20 or 30 min drive on the highwsy today and il check the joints after.

I hope its just the joints, from what I have read on here, the tail end if the t-case is not serviceable, meaning its going to have to be replaced...
