well, shoot, I dont know much guys. I dont know much about clutches either, I figured if it said 450, it meant 450 no matter what as long as you werent riding the clutch. yes it was broke in properly. Im very sorry for making a scene about valair. I actually have loved it, I was a little upset when I wrote this last night. With everybody being so nice on here, I think I should sell the dodge and join a rice gang. shoot you guys are tough. But what do I know, im just 18, trying to have fun! you only live once, I want good stories to tell when I get older, I would rather be sitting around a campfire with my grandchildren telling exiting stories of burning out and 4 wheeling, hooking up with girls, compared to some of the stories my friends are going to be telling their grandchildren, theirs will be like, when I was your age, I rode a 12 speed mountain bike and never got a girlfriend till I met your grandmother at age 34. I wont be selling my dodge, I just now understand you cant drive however you want on a 450 horse clutch, but thanks again guys for your support:thumbsup

I too have had no issues with my clutch, the multi gear burn outs prob weren't the best idea but like I have always heard, to be old and wise you have to first be young and stupid, and I myself are a victim of that creed:SMART:
I guess Im going through that stage right now. Its fun, but expensive:lol3::$:

I might be, but shoot, they learned the same way I am. and If they didnt, theyre lives must be pretty boring with no mistakes in them, also must be pretty hard lives since they're so perfect!

everyone is entitled to thier own opinion, and as we get older we learn to think before we speak, well some of us, it's all good
we all have to live and learn.

I never understand how my 60 yr old father can buy a set of tires and get 3 years out of them, I put a set of tires on and get 3 months. He has the original trans in his truck (auto) for 130K miles now, I have been thru 4 in 8 months. How does he do it! It can't be my fault! Why did I blow up 2 Cummins engines in the last 8 months? Can't be my fault...lol! The way you treat your toys will have a huge effect on its life span. I tend to beat mine like they are rented mules.... my dad always treats his like he is borrowing it from his boss. I think I found out the answer to my questions! I am also the "loose nut behind the wheel!"

Have fun, but remember that when you play, you got to pay at times. You can not take a clutch, engine, trans, tires.... or anything else and be flat out ignorant to it and be expecting sympathy when it stops working correcty.

I do agree to have fun! We go down this road one time, have a blast with it because you will get old be dead real soon. I'm 38 yrs old, and I sure dont feel like I have had 38 years of fun yet! I have some catching up to do! I'm over half way done with the trip of life, I better go out now and break something else! Fun Fun!

your thread caught my attention, because thats the clutch im about to buy... Kevin at Valair reccomended it to me for my application, due to the tire size i have, and stock gears, and that i tow a 7500lb travel trailer around all summer and i HAVE to slip the clutch a tiny bit in some instances. And while Dan is on this thread too... i have a question for ya. Im also a retard (LOL) and i like my burnouts, not with 38.5's but with 33's and smaller.

But to the question, whats the proper way to break in a clutch to get the most life out of it?

Definatly nothing wrong with a good burnout:peelout:thumbsup Im sure dan will speak up here, but when I called him and talked to him about proper break in, he told me to go pull some long grade hills, lay into it slightly, not too much. but enough to were it is working the clutch, but not spinning out of control, or much at all really. He also advised me if you dont have hills, you can hook onto a light trailer, drive around, or just stop and go driving, he said dont however just get on the highway and drive 65 constant speed. Hope I said all this right, if not, im sure dan will set it straight.:thumbsup:beer
